The grand autumn fair in the heart of Volpiano, featuring Piedmontese flavors, crafts, and traditions.
The Autumn Fair is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Volpiano, a town in the Metropolitan City of Turin at the gateway to the Canavese region, in Piedmont. For an entire Sunday, the historic center transforms into a large open-air market, where exhibitor stalls mingle with local shops, artisan workshops, and food stands. It is the festival with which Volpiano welcomes autumn, an occasion that has drawn residents and visitors from neighboring towns for years.
The heart of the fair is its local gastronomy. Along the streets of the center, you will find stalls featuring typical Piedmontese products: wines, cheeses, cured meats, honey, sweets, and seasonal specialties. These are complemented by craft exhibitors, local associations, and merchants who, for the occasion, bring to life the Da Lì… a Là… initiative, a showcase that accompanies the fair with stalls, displays, and tastings.
The highlight of the day is the lunch in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, hosted by the Pro Loco Volpiano: the star is polenta, served in its most traditional variations, such as polenta with wild boar, sausage, or gorgonzola. In the afternoon, there is no shortage of autumn treats, from apple fritters to canestrelli, accompanied by the essential mulled wine.
Beyond the food and wine, the fair offers a rich supporting program: art exhibitions with sculptures and live demonstrations, photography displays, the chestnut roast hosted by the Alpini with roasted chestnuts, pony rides for children, and musical moments, such as the concert by the Filarmonica Volpianese. It is a day designed for the whole family, where the town's numerous associations collaborate to create a true community celebration.
For Volpiano, the Autumn Fair is much more than a market: it is a meeting point that strengthens local identity and highlights the work of the Pro Loco, merchants, districts, and associations. Organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Volpiano and supported by the Metropolitan City of Turin, the event is the best way to discover the flavors and authentic atmosphere of the Canavese region on a Sunday in November.
