The patronal feast of Sant'Antonino featuring tradition, local flavors, and a grand fair through the town streets
In the picturesque setting of the Pesio Valley, at the foot of the Maritime Alps and just a few kilometers from Cuneo, the town of Chiusa di Pesio celebrates its most beloved festival every late August: Ciüsa Duvarta, the patronal feast in honor of Saint Antoninus, the town's patron saint. The name, in the Piedmontese dialect, means "Open Chiusa": an invitation to discover the village, which opens its doors to residents and visitors alike for three days.
The Ciüsa Duvarta program is designed to delight everyone, from young to old, with a special focus on taste and tradition. Throughout the days, the schedule alternates between social gatherings, concerts, shows, children's entertainment, food and wine events, and initiatives linked to the valley's Occitan roots. The town's squares, from Piazza Cavour to Castello Mirabello, become the stage for an event that blends religious devotion with popular celebration.
The highlight is the grand Sunday fair, which takes over the streets of the historic center all day long. Among the stalls, you will find handicrafts, local food and wine products, and antiques, while dedicated areas host equestrian shows, pony rides, falconry, circus theater, and wellness activities. The patronal Holy Mass and tributes to the community, such as the traditional presentation of the Constitution to eighteen-year-olds, mark the civil and religious rites of the festival.
Chiusa di Pesio is the gateway to the Pesio Valley, a land of trails, beech forests, and the famous Certosa di Pesio. The festival is also an opportunity to discover the valley's natural beauty through hiking and e-bike tours, and to savor local specialties, from the Marrone di Chiusa di Pesio chestnut to traditional Occitan dishes. Organized by the Municipality of Chiusa di Pesio in collaboration with the Valle Pesio Tourist Office and local associations, Ciüsa Duvarta is one of the premier summer events in the Cuneo area.
The 2026 edition of Ciüsa Duvarta, the 26th in its history, is scheduled from Friday, August 28th to Sunday, August 30th, 2026. Once again, the patronal feast of Saint Antoninus will offer a rich calendar of events designed for all ages, including social gatherings, entertainment, shows, and initiatives linked to the traditions of the Pesio Valley.
The highlight will be, as tradition dictates, the grand fair on Sunday, August 30th, which will occupy the streets of the historic center all day with handicrafts, food and wine products, and antiques.
The detailed program, with dates and times of individual events, will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event by the Municipality of Chiusa di Pesio and the Valle Pesio Tourist Office. Exhibitor registrations for the fair are collected at the Valle Pesio Tourist Office (Piazza Cavour 13, tel. +39 0171 734990).
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published in the weeks leading up to the event. Based on past editions, the festival spans three days: social and gastronomic evenings (such as the traditional ravioli and polenta dinners), concerts and brass bands, children's entertainment, and the grand Sunday fair featuring crafts, local products, antiques, equestrian shows, falconry, pony rides, and wellness activities. For the updated calendar, please consult the Valle Pesio Tourist Office (tel. +39 0171 734990).
