The patronal feast in the village of Cuneo, featuring dinners, concerts, and local tradition
Passatore is a village in the Municipality of Cuneo, in the Province of Cuneo (Piedmont), which gathers every June for its Patronal Feast dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. For about ten days, the former sferisterio area, located right in front of the parish church, becomes the beating heart of the community: a large, covered, and well-equipped space where people eat, dance, and celebrate until late at night.
The strength of this village festival lies in its variety: every evening offers something different. Reservation-only dinners are the highlight of the event, with menus featuring grilled meat or fish prepared by the Pro Loco volunteers. After dinner, the space comes alive with free concerts and DJ sets, tributes to great Italian and international music, dance evenings, and traditional Piedmontese Occitan music.
Alongside the food and music, there are events that attract families and visitors from all over the area: vintage tractor rallies and agricultural machinery exhibitions, a vintage and sports car rally with a scenic tour through the valleys, entertainment and shows for children, as well as a bar serving sandwiches, platters of cold cuts and cheeses, beer, and drinks.
The spiritual heart of the festival remains the celebrations in honor of Saint John the Baptist: the solemn Sunday mass, the procession with the statue of the saint through the village streets, and the traditional ringing of the bells mark the highlight of the day. During the event, the parish charity stall is also active, a sign of the deep bond between the festival, the community, and its church.
Organized by the Passatore Pro Loco, the patronal feast is above all an opportunity for the inhabitants of the village and those arriving from Cuneo and neighboring towns to meet. A genuine event, made of good food, live music, and tradition, that tells the story of the welcoming soul of rural Piedmont.
