The Orange Flag village of Alta Langa welcomes outdoor tourism
The National PleinAir Festival is an annual event that, every late September, brings together motorhome enthusiasts from all over Italy in villages awarded the Orange Flag, the quality mark of the Italian Touring Club reserved for inland locations. Promoted for over fifteen years by PleinAir magazine together with the Association of Orange Flag Villages, the event is a tribute to slow tourism: mayors open their town halls to welcome travelers and share the unique features of the village and the territory, while crews stay in equipped areas provided by the municipalities.
Among the more than eighty municipalities participating in the festival is Bergolo, a small stone jewel of the Alta Langa, in the province of Cuneo and the Piedmont region. Built entirely of stone along a single main street, the village is famous for being a true "open-air art gallery": murals, sculptures, and bas-reliefs adorn the facades of the buildings, engaging in a dialogue with the hilly landscape. Not to be missed are the Parish Church of the Nativity of Mary, a 17th-century stone church, and the Chapel of San Sebastiano, which offers an extraordinary view of the Langhe.
During the PleinAir weekend, Bergolo welcomes visitors with a program designed to showcase the village and the surrounding nature. Recent editions have included:
Bergolo's location, in the heart of the Alta Langa, makes it an ideal starting point for exploring one of Italy's most renowned food and wine territories, a short distance from Alba, Barolo, and La Morra. Autumn, with its foliage and wine season, is the perfect time to experience this corner of Piedmont at a slow pace, by motorhome or on foot, immersed in the tradition and culture of the Langhe.
The dates for the 2026 National PleinAir Festival are confirmed for the weekend of September 25-27, 2026: Bergolo is among the participating Orange Flag municipalities. As every year, the village will offer camper parking in the equipped area, visits to the widespread artistic heritage, and activities to discover the Alta Langa territory.
The detailed program (times of guided tours, events, and specific proposals for Bergolo) will be published by the organizers close to the event. For information and to book the camper area, you can contact the Municipal Culture Office.
