About CantinAtina

CantinAtina is the premier wine and food festival of the Comino Valley. Every summer, the historic center of Atina, in the province of Frosinone, transforms into a winding trail of open cellars tucked away in narrow alleys and charming squares. The stars of the show are the Atina DOC Cabernet, a wine with a noble and intense character, and the Atina PDO Cannellino Bean, a cornerstone of local Ciociaria farming tradition. Tastings, folk music, street performers, and local delicacies bring the village to life until late at night, with a free shuttle service to reach the heart of the event.

CantinAtina: The village becomes a cellar

CantinAtina is the food and wine event that lights up the historic center of Atina every summerโ€”an ancient village in the Comino Valley, located in the province of Frosinone, in the heart of the most authentic Lazio region. For one night, the doorways, alleys, and squares of the old town open up to host a long tasting journey: local wineries serve their wines directly at their doorsteps, creating a festive atmosphere that draws thousands of visitors from across the Ciociaria area.

The two protagonists: Cabernet DOC and Cannellino Bean PDO

The event is a tribute to the agricultural history of the Comino Valley and revolves around two local excellences. The first is the Atina DOC Cabernet, a red wine with a noble and intense character, the result of a winemaking tradition introduced here in the late 19th century and now the pride of local producers. The second is the Atina PDO Cannellino Bean, a legume with a very thin skin and delicate flavor, grown along the valley floor and protected by a Protected Designation of Origin that guarantees its authenticity.

A journey of taste through the alleys

Visitors receive a personalized wine glass and set off along the route that winds through the village. At every stop, they can sample wines from local producers, paired with traditional peasant-style dishes. Plates featuring cannellino beans, cured meats, cheeses, and other Ciociaria specialties accompany the wine, while folk music and street performers turn every corner into a small stage.

  • Atina DOC Cabernet served by the wineries and the Protection Consortium;
  • Atina PDO Cannellino Bean and traditional recipes;
  • Folk music, folklore, and street performers along the route;
  • Free shuttle service from the sports field parking lot to the center.

Atina and the Comino Valley

Perched on a hill overlooking the valley, Atina preserves a fascinating urban layout, with polygonal walls, historic palaces, and glimpses that tell centuries of history. CantinAtina is the perfect opportunity to discover the village at night, when the lighting and entertainment enhance its atmosphere, and to meet the producers and families who safeguard the flavors of this corner of southern Lazio.

A festival for everyone

A convivial and popular evening, CantinAtina is designed for wine lovers as well as families and curious visitors who want to experience a sense of community. Entry to the village is free, and you only pay for the glass to enjoy the tastings: a simple and genuine way to support local producers and take home the memory of a festive night in the Comino Valley.
