A white night through the village alleys, featuring art, music, folklore, and Ciociaria gastronomy
Per i Vicoli di Castrocielo and White Night is the event that transforms the historic center of Castrocieloโa town in the province of Frosinone in southern Lazioโinto a massive open-air stage every September. For one night, the alleys, small squares, and churchyards of the village are filled with lights, music, aromas, and people, creating a true white night dedicated to art, folk traditions, and fine cuisine.
The heart of the festival is the food and wine route winding through the narrow streets of the historic center: dozens of stalls offer local products, while local artisans showcase the crafts and knowledge of the Ciociaria region. Key specialties include Mozzarella di Bufala Campana produced in the territories of Castrocielo and Pontecorvo, Cabernet wine, craft beer, fried pizza, and local organic products.
Accompanying the gastronomic stroll is a rich program of entertainment: live music, folk groups, accordion schools, street performers, and musical sets animate every corner of the village. There are also areas dedicated to families and children, with games and entertainment, as well as moments that highlight local folk traditions.
The Castrocielo event is no amateur affair: in 2024, the festival celebrated its twentieth edition, a testament to the deep bond between the community and its white night. Over the years, the event has grown while maintaining its original spirit as a village festival capable of uniting different generations.
The 2025 edition also aimed to send a strong civic message, dedicating the evening to saying "no" to bullying, violence, and war: a way to combine entertainment with the values and commitment of the community.
Castrocielo, perched on the slopes of the Cairo Mountains, provides a picturesque setting for the festival, with glimpses of the historic center and views over the Liri Valley. The white night is the perfect opportunity to explore the village, savor Ciociaria cuisine, and experience the authentic atmosphere of a community gathering in the streets. The main entrances are located near Piazza San Rocco and the Santa Lucia church parking lots, with dedicated staff to direct visitors to the parking areas.
The 2026 edition of Per i Vicoli di Castrocielo and White Night is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the historic center of Castrocielo, starting in the evening. As per tradition, the village alleys will host food stalls with typical local products, local craft stations, live music, folk groups, and street performers, with areas dedicated to families and children.
The detailed program with the line-up, times, and stall locations will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
The event takes place on an evening in September in the historic center of Castrocielo, typically starting at 7:00 PM and continuing until late at night. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, September 19.
