The summer festival in the village of Alvito, in the heart of the Comino Valley
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Agosto Alvitano is one of the longest-running summer festivals in southern Lazio: with nearly sixty years of history, it represents a defining event for the municipality of Alvito, a village in the Comino Valley in the province of Frosinone. Born in the 1960s as a series of local village parties, it has gradually expanded to become a comprehensive tourist program that accompanies residents and visitors for over two months, from mid-July to the threshold of autumn.
The strength of Agosto Alvitano lies in its variety. The calendar weaves together different genres and audiences, offering a reason to visit the historic center of Alvito—dominated by castle ruins and overlooking the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park—every single evening. Recurring features of the festival include:
Over the years, the festival has hosted renowned cultural events such as storytelling and short film festivals, alongside gatherings that recount the history and stories of the village. There is no shortage of religious festivals and devotional moments, which culminate at the end of summer in celebrations linked to the castle and patronal traditions. In this way, Agosto Alvitano successfully brings together entertainment, memory, and community identity.
Nestled among the mountains that mark the border between Lazio, Abruzzo, and Molise, Alvito is one of the most picturesque villages in the Comino Valley. Its stone streets, medieval historic center, and proximity to the National Park make it an ideal destination for those seeking culture, nature, and good food. During Agosto Alvitano, the town lights up every evening, confirming its status as one of the summer landmarks in the Frosinone area and the entire Lazio region.
The Municipality of Alvito has not yet released the official calendar for Agosto Alvitano 2026. In continuity with previous editions, the festival is expected to run from mid-July to late September, featuring concerts, theater, exhibitions, food festivals, excursions, and tournaments in the village's historic center. Dates and the program will be confirmed on the municipal administration's official channels.
Alvito is located in the Comino Valley, in the province of Frosinone (Lazio). By car, it can be reached via the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, taking the Sora or Cassino exit and continuing along the provincial roads of the valley. The nearest train station is Atina-Alvito on the line to Sora and Avezzano.
The festival takes place every year from mid-July to the end of September, with events distributed across various evenings in the village's historic center.
Most events take place in the town's public spaces and are free to attend. For the updated program and any ticketed events, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Alvito.
