About Bande in Vetta — Baita Cuz

The Felice e Gregorio Fontana Musical Band of Pomarolo takes part in "Bande in Vetta" (Bands at the Peak), a festival that brings Trentino's brass bands to alpine mountain huts. The event takes place at Baita Cuz, on the Buffaure plateau at 2,200 metres, for an open-air concert blending music, hiking, and nature. It is a perfect opportunity to combine a mountain excursion with the traditional brass band culture of Trentino, featuring a repertoire tailored for walkers and hikers.

High-altitude music in the mountain huts of Trentino

Bande in Vetta is the summer festival that brings Trentino's brass bands to high-altitude mountain huts and refuges, offering an experience that combines hiking, music, and nature. Promoted by the Federation of Brass Bands of the Province of Trento in collaboration with the mountain huts of Trentino and supported by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the event enlivens a different refuge every Sunday morning throughout the summer, where a local band performs an open-air concert. The audience reaches the venue on foot along the trails or via ski lifts, turning the musical performance into a full day in the mountains.

The Pomarolo Band at Baita Cuz

As part of the 2026 festival, the Felice e Gregorio Fontana Musical Band of Pomarolo — an association from the municipality of Pomarolo, in Vallagarina — is the star of the event at Baita Cuz, the refuge nestled at approximately 2,200 metres on the Buffaure plateau in the Val di Fassa area. In this Dolomite setting, the musicians offer a varied programme, ranging from marches and traditional band pieces to arrangements of soundtracks and pop music, perfect for accompanying the break of hikers who have made the climb.

Walk, listen, breathe

The concept of the festival is captured in the invitation "walk, listen, breathe": the encounter between Trentino's brass band culture and the mountains offers hikers a festive moment and provides the musicians with an exceptional natural stage. The concerts take place in the morning and continue into the early afternoon, with the refuge remaining open for lunch and refreshments.

A bond with the Pomarolo community

The Fontana Band represents one of the most deep-rooted associations in the village of Pomarolo, active throughout the year in the community's civil and religious celebrations and in the main musical events of the Vallagarina valley. Participating in Bande in Vetta is an opportunity for the group to take their music beyond the village borders and into the heart of the Trentino Dolomites.
