The aromatic herbs of the Dolomites
Aromi d'Alta Quota is a themed week organised by Rifugio Averau, at the Cinque Torri in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Belluno province). The initiative celebrates the high-altitude aromatic herbs that grow on the meadows and among the rocks of the Dolomites, exploring their uses, flavours, and properties.
Botany and taste together
The programme combines the discovery of alpine flora with mountain cuisine: guided botanical walks in search of wild herbs, stories about their traditional and culinary uses, and dishes that enhance their aromas. The highlight is the botanical walk with gourmet lunch, an accompanied excursion culminating in a meal prepared with local flavours.
An experience at altitude
Set at over 2,400 metres, against the backdrop of the Cinque Torri, the event is part of the rich summer calendar of Rifugio Averau and the Cortina Delicious programme. It is an invitation to experience the mountains in a slow and mindful way, amidst nature, knowledge, and good food, in the heart of the Ampezzo Dolomites.
Aromi d'Alta Quota — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Aromi d'Alta Quota enlivens Rifugio Averau at the Cinque Torri from July 13th to 19th. The week is dedicated to discovering high-altitude aromatic herbs, with gastronomic proposals and initiatives related to alpine flora. The main event is the botanical walk with gourmet lunch on July 17th, a guided excursion from Rifugio Fedare to Jouf de Melei. The event is part of the summer programme of the refuge and Cortina Delicious.
