The traditional midsummer fair in the heart of Val Fiorentina
The Fiera del Carmine is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Selva di Cadore, a municipality in Val Fiorentina in the province of Belluno, at the foot of the Pelmo massif. It is traditionally held on the third Sunday of July and has its roots in the popular devotion to the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, around whom markets and meeting points for the communities of the Dolomite valleys have been organised for centuries.
For an entire day, the centre of the village comes alive with the fair's stalls: you can find handicraft products and typical artefacts, tools from the farming and alpine pasture tradition, wooden objects and gastronomic products from Val Fiorentina. It is an opportunity to discover the flavours of Cadore and to bring home a piece of local craftsmanship, in a village atmosphere that blends commerce, celebration, and socialising.
Selva di Cadore is located in a green basin surrounded by some of the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fair is also a good excuse to explore the area: the historic hamlets, the Vittorino Cazzetta Museum with artefacts from the Mondeval Man, and the trails towards Pelmo and Civetta. A small but distinctive event that tells the deep bond between this mountain village and its traditions.
The 2026 edition of the Fiera del Carmine is scheduled for Sunday, July 19th, according to the usual placement on the third Sunday of July. The centre of Selva di Cadore hosts the fair's stalls all day long with handicrafts, local products, and traditional artefacts.
The date has been confirmed by the Veneto Region's Calendar of Fair Events for the year 2026.
The detailed program for the Fiera del Carmine 2026 will be announced by the Municipality of Selva di Cadore closer to the event. The fair traditionally takes place throughout Sunday, with the opening of handicraft and typical product stalls in the morning in the village centre.
Selva di Cadore can be reached by car from the SS 51 Alemagna or via Passo Staulanza. The nearest train station is Calalzo di Cadore, connected by a bus service. On fair days, it is advisable to park in the areas outside the centre.
Access to the fair is free.
The fair is held on the third Sunday of July. For 2026, the event is confirmed for July 19th.
