About Vertical Col di Lana
A thousand meters all uphill
The Vertical KM Còl de Lana is an extreme mountain running event: 1000 meters of positive elevation gain in just 2 kilometers, from the start in Pieve di Livinallongo (1452 m) to the summit of Col di Lana (2452 m). The course starts on grassy meadows, crosses the woods up to the Prade area, and becomes progressively steeper as it approaches the summit, offering athletes a breathtaking panorama of the Dolomites.
The mountain of remembrance
Col di Lana is no ordinary peak: during the First World War, it was the scene of bloody fighting between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies, so much so that it was nicknamed "Col di Sangue" (Blood Peak). Running towards its summit therefore means crossing a place steeped in history, in the municipality of Livinallongo del Col di Lana (province of Belluno), in the Ladin valley of Fodom.
A challenge for everyone
Alongside the main race, reserved for the most prepared athletes, the Vertical offers the Mini Vertical dedicated to younger participants, to introduce even children to mountain running. An event that combines extreme sport, historical memory, and love for the Dolomites.
Vertical Col di Lana — edition 2026
The 14th edition of the Vertical KM Còl de Lana will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, with the start at 10:00 AM from Pieve di Livinallongo (1452 m) towards the summit of Col di Lana (2452 m): 1000 meters of elevation gain in just 2 km. The records to beat are Luca Kovacic's (33'19") for men and Victoria Kreuzer's (39'49") for women; for 2026, a prize of €200 is offered to anyone who improves the record. There is also space for the younger ones with the Mini Vertical.

How to get there
Pieve di Livinallongo can be reached via the SS48 Dolomites road. From the south, take the A27 Belluno exit and the SS203 Agordina road to Agordo, then Caprile and Livinallongo; from the north, from Arabba via Passo Campolongo.
