Local economy up close: craftsmanship, trade, agriculture, and gastronomy at the San Michele Ice Rink
Appiano Produktiv (in German Eppan Produktiv) is the economic fair that draws thousands of visitors each year to the San Michele Ice Rink (Eishalle St. Michael) in the municipality of Appiano sulla strada del vino/Eppan an der Weinstraße, the heart of the Oltradige in the province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. For three days, the venue becomes the meeting point for local economy, craftsmanship, taste, and innovation.
The event hosts dozens of exhibitors from Appiano, Caldaro, and the surrounding areas, representing the key sectors of the territory: craftsmanship, trade, agriculture, gastronomy, and services. The stands showcase products, skills, and ideas, offering visitors the chance to get to know local businesses up close and meet the people behind them. The organization is managed by South Tyrolean trade associations lvh.apa (artisans), hds (trade and services), HGV (hoteliers and restaurateurs), and Südtiroler Bauernbund (farmers), with the support of the Municipality of Appiano and the Tourist Board.
In addition to the exhibitions, the program offers moments of taste and entertainment designed for all ages:
A special highlight is the morning dedicated to schools: on Friday, middle school students from the district visit the fair to discover local professions and make contact with companies for future internships and apprenticeships.
Located along the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road, Appiano is one of the most renowned wine-growing municipalities in South Tyrol, rich in castles, farmsteads, and wineries. Appiano Produktiv tells the story of this very productive fabric, where artisanal tradition and agricultural vocation intertwine with the innovation of local businesses. Admission to the event is free.
From June 5 to 7, 2026, the San Michele Ice Rink in Appiano hosted the Appiano Produktiv fair, which attracted over 10,000 visitors. 51 exhibitors from Appiano, Caldaro, and the surrounding area participated, representing the sectors of craftsmanship, trade, agriculture, gastronomy, and services.
The program alternated show cooking with regional specialties, wine and tea tastings, free consultations on energy and mobility, live music, and a rich program for children with face painting, workshops, puppet theater, and a bouncy castle. Friday morning was reserved for the district's middle schools. At the end, visitors voted for the most beautiful stand: the prize went to Tischlerei Kager, followed by Walcher Messebau and ANET. Admission was free.
