The cous cous festival in the heart of Acquedolci, on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Acquedolci Cous Cous Fest is a food festival hosted in Acquedolci, a charming town overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the province of Messina, at the foot of the Nebrodi mountains. The event highlights cous cous, a dish that has served for centuries as a symbol of the culinary traditions shared across the Mediterranean, particularly along the Sicilian coast facing Africa. It is an evening dedicated to conviviality, cultural integration, and the simple, delicious flavors of Sicilian land and sea cuisine.
The heart of the festival is Piazza Municipio, which transforms into a large, lively open-air dining space for the evening. Visitors can explore various stalls offering different versions of cous cous, from seafood to vegetarian options, creating a culinary journey for every palate. Alongside the free tastings, there is a rich entertainment program featuring DJ sets, performances, and activities for children, culminating in live concerts that keep the energy high throughout the night.
The Acquedolci Cous Cous Fest is organized by the Municipality of Acquedolci with the patronage of the Sicilian Region and the collaboration of local associations, most notably the Associazione Mediterraneo. The goal is twofold: to celebrate the town's gastronomic heritage and Mediterranean identity, and to provide residents and visitors with a free, inclusive evening that attracts crowds from across the Tyrrhenian side of the Nebrodi area.
The festival is traditionally held in summer, during the month of August, when Acquedolci is at the height of its tourist season. As this is a relatively new event, it is advisable to check the official channels of the Municipality of Acquedolci for updated dates and programs before planning your trip.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Acquedolci Cous Cous Fest have not yet been officially communicated. Following the success of the inaugural edition, held in August 2025 in Piazza Municipio in Acquedolci, it is highly likely that the event will return during the summer, but we must wait for the organizers' announcement. To stay informed about dates, line-ups, and details, we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Acquedolci. We will update this page as soon as the program is made public.
Piazza Municipio, in the town center of Acquedolci (ME), Sicily. The event takes place outdoors in the heart of the town.
By car: Acquedolci is located along the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina, accessible via the A20 Messina-Palermo motorway (exit: Sant'Agata di Militello/Acquedolci). By train: The Acquedolci-San Fratello station is served by the Messina-Palermo line and is just a few minutes from the center.
Admission to the event is free, and the cous cous tastings are complimentary while supplies last. We recommend arriving early to secure a spot in the square.
Summer evenings on the Tyrrhenian coast are mild, but it can get cooler late at night; bringing a light sweater is recommended.
