About Martin Fest

Every November, San Fratello, a village perched in the Nebrodi mountains in the province of Messina, celebrates Saint Martin of Tours with Martin Fest, a widespread food and wine festival throughout the historic center. For an entire weekend, the streets and squares of the village turn into a culinary journey dedicated to new wine and the typical products of the Nebrodi: artisanal cheeses, cured meats, traditional sweets, and street food. With guided tastings, roasted chestnuts, live music, street performers, and activities for children, it is one of the most cherished autumn festivals in the Messina area.

Martin Fest, the heart of autumn in the Nebrodi

The Martin Fest - Saint Martin's Festival is the food and wine event that brings San Fratello to life every November, a charming village in the Nebrodi Park in the province of Messina, Sicily. The event celebrates Saint Martin of Tours and, following the tradition linking this holiday to "new wine," transforms the town into the culinary capital of the Nebrodi for an entire weekend.

A culinary journey through the village streets

During Martin Fest, the streets and squares of San Fratello's historic center turn into a large food and wine itinerary that tells the story of the Nebrodi's soul. The absolute star is the new wine, accompanied by the area's finest products:

  • Artisanal Nebrodi cheeses
  • Cured meats and products from the Nebrodi black pig
  • Traditional local sweets
  • Roasted chestnuts and typical dishes
  • Street food offerings, ranging from traditional recipes to modern reinterpretations

Alongside the food stalls, there are guided tastings and flavor workshops designed to introduce visitors to the local production and knowledge.

Music, shows, and tradition

Martin Fest is not just about food and wine: the program includes concerts, roaming performances, and street artists that enliven the village. Past editions have featured musical performances by local bands and roaming artists, equestrian shows, art exhibitions, and guided tours of the Sanctuary of the Three Holy Martyrs, a religious and identity symbol of San Fratello. There are also spaces dedicated to children and moments of conviviality that make the festival suitable for everyone.

An event promoted by the local community

The event is organized by the Pro Loco San Fratello APS in collaboration with the Municipality of San Fratello, the Vulรฒs associations, and the Youth Council, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF), the Ministry of Tourism, and the Regional Department of Agriculture of the Sicilian Region. An event born from the commitment of local youth to promote San Fratello, the Nebrodi, and their typical products.
