The sports festival in Chieti Scalo

The Yellow Night of Sport is the annual event that, at the beginning of September, transforms the Chieti Scalo district in the Municipality of Chieti into a massive showcase for sports. For an entire evening, streets are closed to traffic to create a wide pedestrian zone: from Piazzale Marconi, the event's beating heart, the activity area stretches from Colonnetta to Via Palizzi, with every corner filled with sports facilities and open-air gyms where people can practice and try out a wide variety of disciplines.

Over 25 federations and 60 sports clubs

The value of the Yellow Night lies in its participatory and local nature. The event involves over 25 federations and associated disciplines representing the CONI world, alongside more than 60 local sports clubs. The neighborhood streets come alive with exhibitions and public trials: rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, boxing, martial arts, dance, and many other activities designed to introduce adults and children to sports in a festive atmosphere.

The Grand Gala and awards ceremony

The most anticipated moment of the evening is the Grand Gala, held on the stage set up in Piazzale Marconi. During the ceremony, awards from CONI and the Municipality of Chieti are presented to the many athletes and sports organizations that have distinguished themselves in the area, blending the celebration of achievements with entertainment for the public.

Chieti European City of Sport

The event is part of the Eventi Scalini calendar in Chieti Scalo and, particularly for the 2025 edition, was included among the initiatives linked to the recognition of Chieti as a European City of Sport. The event is organized by the Municipal Administration of Chieti together with the provincial CONI, with the aim of highlighting sports associations and promoting an active lifestyle among citizens.

An appointment for the whole city

Launched in 2024, the Yellow Night of Sport has quickly become one of the most cherished events of the summer in Chieti. Its free format, the central location of Piazzale Marconi, and the direct involvement of local clubs make it an evening that successfully unites sport, social gathering, and neighborhood life in the heart of Abruzzo.
