About Montesilvano Tells Its Story

Mò | Montesilvano Tells Its Story is a traveling cultural project promoted by the Municipality of Montesilvano, in the province of Pescara, where the city's historic mansions and villas are transformed into open-air stages. Through theatrical readings, live music, and performances in period costumes, the audience is taken on an emotional journey through the places and stories that have shaped Montesilvano, from the hills to the sea. A path of shared memory created by the Ozio Kreativo association.

An emotional journey through the historic villas of Montesilvano

Mò | Montesilvano Tells Its Story is a traveling cultural festival that invites the public inside the historic mansions and villas of Montesilvano, in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo. The concept is simple yet powerful: giving a voice back to often-forgotten places, bringing them back to life through theater, music, and storytelling. Each event is an immersive experience where the walls, gardens, and halls of the villas become the natural backdrop for authentic tales.

Theatrical readings, music, and shared memory

During the evenings, the audience is guided along an itinerary of theatrical readings, live musical performances, and engaging narratives that retrace the history of the city and its families, from the 16th century to the present day. Actors and narrators, often in period costumes, bring to life real characters and events, creating what the organizers call a "shared memory": not just a guided tour, but an emotional experience that connects the listeners to the places and the people who once lived there.

The venues: from the hilltop village to the seafront

The project spans the iconic landmarks of Montesilvano. Featured venues include Villa Verlengia, an elegant residence overlooking Corso Umberto in Montesilvano Spiaggia, and Palazzo Delfico, in the historic heart of Montesilvano Colle. It was at Palazzo Delfico that a re-enactment of an early 20th-century wedding took place, complete with historical attire, narrators, and the traditional cutting of the "pizza doce" cake, showcasing how the format masterfully weaves grand history with local family memories.

The team behind the project

Mò | Montesilvano Tells Its Story was conceived by the cultural association Ozio Kreativo, led by president and event manager Graziella Core and vice-president and actress Tiziana Di Tonno, the project's artistic soul. The festival is inspired by the book Montesilvano dal colle al mare by Aldo Mastrangelo, who also wrote the scripts for the performances, and is promoted by the Municipality of Montesilvano with the patronage of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

A highlight of the Montesilvano summer

The event has become a staple of Montesilvano's vibrant summer calendar, which brings the Adriatic coast and the ancient hilltop village to life every year with hundreds of concerts, festivals, and cultural events. Mò | Montesilvano Tells Its Story represents the most intimate and authentic voice of this program, dedicated to the historical heritage and the rediscovery of the community's roots.
