Antiques, crafts, and collectibles in the heart of Chieti
The Curiosity Market is a regular fixture that marks almost every month of the year in the town of Chieti, a provincial capital in Abruzzo. Promoted by ANIAC — National Association of Artisan and Merchant Entrepreneurs in collaboration with the municipal administration, the market was created with the aim of enhancing the city, enlivening its squares, and giving visibility to local artisans, creatives, and hobbyists.
The market stalls offer a wide range of goods: antiques, vintage and collectible pieces, curious vintage items, as well as traditional and ethnic crafts, modern design creations, hobbyist items, and typical products from the Abruzzo region. It is the perfect place for those who love browsing through stalls in search of a rare object, an elusive book, a piece of antique furniture, or a handmade creation.
One of the distinctive features of the Curiosity Market is its itinerant nature within the municipality of Chieti. The events alternate between different locations: Corso Marrucino, the drawing room of Chieti Alta's historic center; Piazzale Marconi in Chieti Scalo, an area frequented by families and young people; and the Villa Comunale, with its greenery and relaxed atmosphere. The market is normally held one weekend a month, on Saturday and Sunday, generally during the third or fourth week.
Strongly supported by the city and championed by the Councilor for Commerce Manuel Pantalone, the market is designed not only as a shopping opportunity but also as a moment of gathering and a tool for relaunching the economic, cultural, and social fabric of the Chieti area. Strolling through the stalls, chatting with exhibitors, and discovering local crafts are an integral part of the experience.
With its monthly frequency, the Curiosity Market has become a reference point for antiques and collectibles enthusiasts in Chieti and throughout Abruzzo, as well as a pleasant opportunity to rediscover the city center.
The 2026 edition of the Curiosity Market in Chieti features a calendar of monthly appointments for most of the year. Confirmed dates include January (24-25 on Corso Marrucino), February, March, April 25-26, May 23-24 at the Villa Comunale, and the return after the summer break on September 26-27. The market takes a break in July, August, and December.
An event held on February 28 and March 1, 2026, in Piazzale Marconi, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, inaugurated the market's presence in Chieti Scalo, featuring antiques, crafts, creativity, and local specialties. As highlighted by Councilor Manuel Pantalone and ANIAC representative Tommaso Rutolo, the goal is to consolidate the initiative on a monthly or bimonthly basis.
