Art, music, and sea views in the historic village of Montesilvano Colle
The Diorama Festival is one of the most original events in the summer calendar of Montesilvano, in the province of Pescara, in the heart of Abruzzo. It is hosted at the Belvedere of the historic village of Montesilvano Colle, the ancient "Rocchetta" perched about 160 meters above sea level: a natural balcony where the view embraces the entire Adriatic coast, with the peaks of the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains rising in the background.
For two evenings, the cobbled alleys and the panoramic terrace of the village turn into an open-air dancefloor, where electronic music and live concerts engage in a dialogue with contemporary art and performance. The festival was born with a clear mission: to bring a fresh, research-driven program to the medieval walls of the hill, attracting a curious audience without compromising the intimate atmosphere of the village.
The program alternates between DJ sets in the late afternoon, as the sun sets over the Adriatic, and concerts featuring guests from the national electronic scene in the evening. Alongside the music, the Diorama Festival always dedicates space to art: site-specific installations and live performances, often created in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila, enrich the experience and give the festival its multidisciplinary identity.
One of the hallmarks of the Diorama Festival is its free admission policy, making it an event open to everyone. Since the village is difficult to reach by public transport, the organizers typically provide a free shuttle service to and from the main points of the lower city. Food and wine options, featuring tastings of local products, are also available to complete the evening on the Belvedere.
The Diorama Festival is now a fixture of the Montesilvano summer, included in the rich seasonal calendar that the municipality hosts from June to September across the Arena dei Fiori, the Teatro del Mare, the seafront, and the Belvedere of Montesilvano Colle itself. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of the Abruzzo coast by combining scenery, art, and music.
The Diorama Festival 2026 is confirmed in the official summer program of Montesilvano (Pescara province) with two dates in September, among the unmissable events of the summer season that the municipality extends until the second week of September. The venue remains the evocative Belvedere of the historic village of Montesilvano Colle, with its view over the Adriatic and the Gran Sasso.
At the time of publication, the precise dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been disclosed. As in previous years, we expect a lineup that weaves together DJ sets, live concerts, and artistic performances, with the usual free admission policy and shuttle service to reach the hill.
The detailed program and line-up for the 2026 edition have not yet been published. The festival is confirmed for two dates in September 2026 on the Belvedere of Montesilvano Colle; exact dates and artists will be announced by the organization in the weeks leading up to the event.
Belvedere del Borgo Antico di Montesilvano Colle, Largo Belvedere, 65015 Montesilvano (PE), Abruzzo. The historic village is located on the hill behind the city, at an altitude of approximately 160 meters.
Montesilvano is served by the Pescara-Nord/Città Sant'Angelo motorway exit (A14) and the Montesilvano railway station. To reach the hill during the festival, we recommend using the free shuttle service that the organization operates to and from collection points in the lower city (in recent editions, Pala Dean Martin and Bingo Orione).
Admission is free, and no reservation is required.
