About Wild Game Festival

The Wild Game Festival of Saint-Nicolas is a gastronomic event dedicated to game meat lovers. Organized by the Pro Loco in the Fossaz pavilion, it offers tastings of typical dishes based on Aosta Valley game, accompanied by an antique market, dialect theatre, card games, and dancing evenings. In 2026, it reaches its 27th edition.

The Aosta Valley game meat festival

In the heart of the Saint-Nicolas plateau, in the Province of Aosta, the Wild Game Festival is one of the most established food and wine events of the Aosta Valley summer. Organized by the Pro Loco of Saint-Nicolas, it is held in mid-July at the pavilion in the Fossaz locality, overlooking a splendid mountain panorama.

Flavours of the mountains

The absolute star is the game meat: deer, roe deer, wild boar, and other local game meats are offered in traditional dishes, the result of the culinary culture of a territory where hunting and mountains are part of its identity. The festival's dinners and lunches attract gourmets from all over the region.

Not just food

Around the tastings, the Pro Loco builds a four-day program that blends gastronomy and socialising: the Belote card game competition (the traditional local card game), dialect theatre, the antique market, and dancing evenings with live music. A formula that makes the festival an authentic moment of community celebration.

Wild Game Festival — edition 2026

From July 16 to 19, 2026, the Pro Loco of Saint-Nicolas presents the 27th Wild Game Festival at the Fossaz pavilion. Four days with a Belote competition, dialect theatre, an antique market, dinners and lunches featuring Aosta Valley game meat, and dancing evenings.

The 27th edition of the Wild Game Festival takes place from July 16 to 19, 2026, in the Fossaz pavilion, in Saint-Nicolas. The program alternates moments of socialising – the Belote competition on Thursday, dialect theatre on Friday – with the main gastronomic events of the weekend, including the game meat dinner on Saturday and the concluding lunch on Sunday, accompanied by an antique market and dancing evenings.
