The Monte Massico wild boar meat festival in Casanova di Carinola
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Wild Boar Festival is one of the most cherished food and wine events in the village of Casanova di Carinola, a small hamlet in the municipality of Carinola in the province of Caserta, Campania. Every summer, usually in the first half of August, the Villa Comunale of Casanova transforms into a large festive space where the community gathers around a product that tells the story of the land: the wild boar meat from the hills of Monte Massico.
The true star of the festival is the Monte Massico wild boar, from the ridge that overlooks the plains of Carinola and the Domitian coast. The game, sourced by local hunters, is prepared according to recipes passed down through generations, utilizing the wisdom of the village cooks. The result is a rustic and flavorful cuisine that perfectly showcases a humble, ancient ingredient of the Campanian peasant tradition.
The food stalls offer dishes that focus on wild boar and local flavors:
The Wild Boar Festival is not just about great food: each evening is accompanied by live music and a rich entertainment program. There is also a children's play area, an amateur dog show, a 3D simulator dedicated to the world of hunting, and free guided tours of the local historical monuments, combining the pleasure of the festival with the discovery of local heritage.
Hosting the festival in Casanova, a hamlet just a few kilometers from the center of Carinola, means bringing the celebration right where the hunting and farming traditions are most deeply rooted. We are in a fascinating area, nestled between the slopes of Monte Massico, the Falerno vineyards, and the historical remnants of an ancient village. The event thus becomes an opportunity to rediscover an authentic and still little-known corner of the Alto Casertano.
Organized by the Spartani I and Ramon 2.0 associations, with the patronage of the Municipality of Carinola and the Pro Loco, the Wild Boar Festival is above all a people's celebration, built through the commitment of local volunteers. An event that, edition after edition, strengthens the community's sense of belonging and attracts visitors from all over the province of Caserta and the nearby Campania region.
Following the success of previous editions, the Wild Boar Festival in Casanova di Carinola is expected to return in the summer of 2026, with its customary appointment in August. The organizing associations have not yet released the official dates or the detailed program.
For the new edition, the proven format is expected: food stalls with Monte Massico wild boar meat, live music, activities for children, and festive moments in the Villa Comunale. All information will be published on the organization's channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
The festival is held at the Villa Comunale of Casanova, a hamlet of the Municipality of Carinola (CE), in Campania (ZIP code 81030).
By car: take the Cassino (A1) or Falciano-Mondragone motorway exit, then follow provincial roads towards Carinola and the hamlet of Casanova. By train: Sessa Aurunca-Roccamonfina or Mondragone station, then local transport connections. By plane: Naples-Capodichino airport, about an hour away.
Admission to the festival area is free; dishes are paid for directly at the stalls. The evenings generally begin around 9:00 PM. It is recommended to check the updated dates and program on the organization's social media channels before traveling.
