The Galluccio Grape Festival, officially titled the Galluccio and Terra di Lavoro Wine Review, is one of the most enduring and beloved gastronomic events in the province of Caserta. Established in 1976, the festival takes place every September in the picturesque village of San Clemente, with its beating heart in Piazza Umberto I. It is organized by the Municipality of Galluccio in collaboration with the Pro Loco and local wineries, celebrating the harvest and the historic winemaking vocation of this town in the upper Caserta region of Campania.

Galluccio DOC wine takes center stage

Galluccio is recognized as a City of Wine and lends its name to the Galluccio DOC designation, which protects wines produced on the volcanic slopes of the Roccamonfina - Foce Garigliano Regional Park. These mineral-rich soils nurture grape varieties such as Aglianico and Falanghina, the foundation for the structured reds and fragrant whites that visitors can sample during the event. At the food and wine stalls, glasses are paired with traditional peasant dishes, prepared according to ancient recipes and centered on typical Terra di Lavoro products.

Folklore, allegorical floats, and the Saracen joust

The festival is more than just food and wine: it is a true community celebration that unites generations. Among the most anticipated events are the parade of allegorical floats with their awards ceremony, performances by folk groups, flag-wavers, and the spectacular Saracen joust, featuring high-school equestrian displays. In the evening, the square lights up with live music and, as per tradition, the free distribution of grapes to visitors.
