The Casapulla festival dedicated to a sausage fit for a king
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The King's Sausage Festival is one of the most beloved culinary events in Casapulla, a small town in the province of Caserta, Campania. Its name stems from a local legend involving Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, who, according to popular belief, frequently visited this part of the Caserta plains. During one of his visits, he was reportedly served a sausage made with a special recipe so delicious that he dubbed it "fit for a king." The festival, which pays homage to this rustic culinary gem every year, takes its name from that very legend.
At the heart of the festival is the sausage, prepared according to local tradition, grilled over charcoal, and served at stalls set up in the square. It is accompanied by other icons of the Terra di Lavoro region: Campanian buffalo mozzarella DOP, local artisanal products, and provincial wines ranging from Casavecchia to Aspinoโnative grape varieties that tell the story of Caserta's agricultural heritage. The event is a perfect opportunity to rediscover the authentic flavors of Campanian popular cuisine in a convivial setting.
Beyond the gastronomy, the festival offers live music performances in the square every evening, ranging from popular hits to the sounds of traditional Campanian and Mediterranean folk music, featuring local bands and groups. The atmosphere is that of a classic village fair, with families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns flocking to Piazza Bellarmino (the market square) for the two-day celebration.
The event is promoted and organized by the Pro Loco Casapulla APS with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Casapulla. Reaching its eighth edition in 2025, the festival has firmly established itself as a staple of the late-summer calendar, successfully promoting local culinary traditions and history while attracting visitors from across the Caserta province.
Following the eighth edition in 2025, the King's Sausage Festival is expected to return to Casapulla (province of Caserta) for the 2026 edition, following its usual late-summer schedule in September. At the moment, the Pro Loco Casapulla APS has not yet released the official dates or the detailed program. As per tradition, the event is expected to bring Piazza Bellarmino to life with food stalls dedicated to charcoal-grilled sausage, Campanian buffalo mozzarella DOP, and local native wines, accompanied by evenings of live music. Information will be updated as soon as the organizers announce the dates and details.
