The wine and rural tradition festival of Sant'Andrea del Garigliano
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Wine Fest began in Sant'Andrea del Garigliano from the idea of four local friends with a simple goal: to have fun and entertain others, reviving the past through the scents, flavors, and sounds of their land. From a spontaneous village initiative, the festival has grown year after year to become a staple of the late-summer calendar in the Frosinone province, attracting visitors from across the Garigliano valley and the nearby Cassino area.
As the name suggests, the absolute star is wine: specifically, that of local producers and wineries, served in glasses along Via Roma alongside traditional rural dishes. The event is a true journey to rediscover wines and ancient country flavors, a dive into the past that welcomes lovers of authentic, old-fashioned cuisine. The motto chosen by the organizers perfectly summarizes the playful spirit of the evening: «We will die, yes... but not of thirst!».
Alongside food and wine, the other soul of the Wine Fest is live music. The evenings are enlivened by folk bands that transform the historic center into a large open-air dance floor: accordions, tambourines, and traditional songs accompany the audience until late at night. The 2025 edition featured performances by Brigallè, a group much-loved in lower Lazio and a returning guest, and Bucalone, with concerts starting at 9:30 PM.
On September 12 and 13, 2025, a Friday and Saturday evening, The Wine Fest celebrated its tenth edition. From 8:00 PM, the central Via Roma filled with stalls offering wine tastings that tell the stories of the land, traditional dishes, dancing, and entertainment, confirming the festival's winning formula: traditional cuisine, good wine, and live music.
The municipality of Sant'Andrea del Garigliano is a small village in southern Lazio, nestled on the hills overlooking the Garigliano river valley, on the border between the province of Frosinone and Campania. We are in the southernmost part of the Ciociaria region, just a few kilometers from Cassino and the Abbey of Montecassino, in a land of olive groves and vineyards where rural culture is still a living memory. Festivals like the Wine Fest play a vital role: keeping the community together and passing down the customs, flavors, and music of tradition to new generations.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet announced the official dates for the 2026 edition of The Wine Fest. The event usually takes place on the second weekend of September, on Friday and Saturday evenings, along Via Roma in Sant'Andrea del Garigliano, in the province of Frosinone.
The proven formula includes stalls with local wines and traditional rural dishes, tastings that tell the stories of the Garigliano valley, and folk music concerts until late at night. Updates on dates and the program are published on the festival's official Facebook page.
By car: From Rome or Naples, take the A1 motorway to the Cassino exit, then follow the Cassino-Formia highway (SS630 Ausonia) and signs for Sant'Andrea del Garigliano; the village is about 15 km from Cassino. The festival takes place along Via Roma, in the town center.
The most convenient station is Cassino (Rome-Naples line via Cassino), from where you can continue by car or taxi.
The event takes place in the evening, starting from approximately 8:00 PM; access to the festival is free, with tastings and dishes available for purchase at the stalls.
September evenings in the Garigliano valley can be cool: a light jacket is recommended for the evening. Updates on dates and the program are published on the festival's Facebook page.
