Four evenings of tradition and fine dining in Vetriolo, in the heart of Tuscia
The Wild Boar Festival takes place in Vetriolo, a small hamlet in the municipality of Bagnoregio, in the province of Viterbo, Lazio. Reaching its twenty-fourth edition in 2026, it has become one of the most anticipated summer events in the area: for four consecutive evenings, the characteristic Piazza Bonaventura Tecchi transforms into the heart of the celebration, with outdoor tables, lights, music, and the aroma of dishes prepared at the food stalls set up for the occasion.
As the name suggests, the true star of the festival is wild boar, cooked according to the traditional farming recipes of the Tuscia region. At the stalls, you can taste typical, homemade local specialties, prepared with dedication by the volunteers of the organizing committee. Alongside the wild boar dishes, there are other local culinary offerings to suit every taste, all accompanied by fine wine from the Lazio hills.
The Wild Boar Festival is not just about good food: every evening the event is enlivened by live musical entertainment, designed to help you spend pleasant moments in the company of friends and family. The atmosphere is that of a typical summer village festival—simple and genuine—where residents and visitors gather around the tables until late in the evening in a climate of authentic conviviality.
The festival is a precious opportunity to discover Vetriolo and the territory of Bagnoregio, world-famous for the nearby Civita di Bagnoregio, the evocative "dying city" perched on a tuff spur. A visit to the festival can therefore become an opportunity to explore one of the most fascinating corners of Tuscia, among ancient villages, badlands, and hilly landscapes.
The event is organized by the Comitato San Donato di Vetriolo with the patronage of the Municipality of Bagnoregio. It is the result of the commitment of local volunteers who renew a deep-rooted tradition every year, capable of attracting visitors from the entire province of Viterbo and beyond. An event that combines gastronomy, popular traditions, and a sense of community, in the name of the genuine cuisine of Tuscia.
