About White Night in Nature

The White Night in Nature is a candlelight event that transforms the historic center of Morozzo, in the province of Cuneo, into an open-air stage dedicated to biodiversity and the respect for the night. Promoted by LIPU in collaboration with the Municipality and the Pro Loco, it turns off public lighting between the Church and the Brichetto Sanctuary to rediscover, through music, exhibitions, astronomical observations, and the release of nocturnal birds of prey, the value of natural light and the fight against light pollution.

A candlelight night in the heart of the Monregalese area

The White Night in Nature is a truly unique appointment in the landscape of Cuneo's events: an evening where the historic center of Morozzo, a small town in the Province of Cuneo overlooking the Crava-Morozzo Nature Oasis, lets itself be enveloped by darkness to rediscover the beauty of the night. Public lighting is switched off in the area between the Church and the Brichetto Sanctuary, and the entire route, starting from the Castle entrance, is illuminated only by candles.

A respectful festival, between fun and awareness

More than just an event, the White Night in Nature was born as a respectful festival: an occasion that combines entertainment and educational content, emotion and awareness. The common thread is reflection on the relationship between man and the environment, with special attention to the themes of light pollution, biodiversity protection, and sustainability. Along the town's streets, there are exhibitions dedicated to nature and science, street artist performances, shadow theater, readings, educational workshops, and games designed for children.

Music, stars, and nocturnal birds of prey

The soundtrack of the evening is entrusted to live music with acoustic instruments, from the harp to the piano and strings, with the participation of students from the "Luigi Vizio" Intermunicipal School of Music in Morozzo. One of the most anticipated moments is the release of nocturnal birds of prey cared for by the LIPU Recovery Center in Asti, accompanied by explanations about nocturnal animals. There is also no shortage of astronomical observations, made possible thanks to the collaboration with observatories and scientific projects that turn Morozzo's dark sky into an open-air classroom.

An event promoted by the territory

The event is promoted by LIPU in collaboration with the Municipality of Morozzo, the Pro Loco, the Opera Pia Peyrone Foundation, and numerous local associations, with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation. The refreshment area managed by the Pro Loco completes the evening with a convivial outdoor offering, perfect for experiencing the night in company, amidst the flickering lights of candles and the starry sky of southern Piedmont.

White Night in Nature — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the White Night in Nature took place on Sunday, June 14, in Morozzo, starting at 7:00 PM. Following the success of the 2023 and 2024 editions, the candlelight evening returned with a new feature: collaboration with the NOCTIS project for astronomical observations, alongside the usual program of music, exhibitions, workshops, and the release of nocturnal birds of prey.

The 2026 edition of the White Night in Nature once again transformed the historic center of Morozzo into a path illuminated only by candles, with the public lighting switched off between the Church and the Brichetto Sanctuary. The evening, dedicated to children, teenagers, and families, offered live music, exhibitions, shows, sky observations, and educational activities on the themes of biodiversity and light pollution.

The main novelty of this edition was the collaboration with the NOCTIS project (Network Osservatorio Coordinato di Telescopi per l'Insegnamento e la Scienza), an initiative funded by the Ministry of University and Research, which enriched the astronomical observations curated by Claudio Fantino of the Fantino Observatory.
