About Vino Vivo

Vino Vivo is the food and wine event through which the Municipality of Petrosino, on the Trapani coast, celebrates the wine and rural identity of Western Sicily. With tasting counters, masterclasses dedicated to Grillo, conferences on viticulture, and a wine competition reserved for the whites of the West Coast, the festival transforms the Lungomare Biscione into a grand lounge for Sicilian wine. Free admission, in the atmosphere of a seaside village festival.

Vino Vivo, Sicilian wine takes center stage in Petrosino

Vino Vivo is the food and wine event promoted by the Municipality of Petrosino, a small town in the province of Trapani overlooking the western coast of Sicily. Established in 2024, the festival is dedicated to local wine and the rural culture that produces it. In just a few years, it has become one of the key oenological events in the Trapani area, attracting wineries, sommeliers, producers, and enthusiasts from all over Western Sicily.

The white wines of the West Coast

The heart of the event is the white wines of the west coast, with a special focus on the Grillo grape variety, a symbol of viticulture in this strip of Sicily between Marsala and Trapani. The editions have featured a wine competition reserved for labels from the coastal municipalities of Trapani (Trapani, Misiliscemi, Paceco, Marsala, Petrosino, Mazara del Vallo, and Campobello di Mazara) and eno-sensory masterclasses led by sommeliers from the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS) of Trapani.

Program and atmosphere

The days of Vino Vivo alternate between in-depth sessions and festive moments:

  • Tasting counters with dozens of local wineries;
  • Masterclasses dedicated to Grillo and local whites, featuring storytelling, music, and visuals;
  • Conferences and talks on sustainability, territorial identity, and the future prospects of viticulture;
  • Sicilian Wine Competition with the awarding of the best labels;
  • Tastings of typical products and Sicilian sweets, in the atmosphere of a seaside festival.

A rural festival on the seafront

The event takes place between the Lungomare Biscione and the Centro Polivalente in Petrosino, in a popular festive setting that combines the promotion of wine with local community pride. As Mayor Giacomo Anastasi highlighted, Vino Vivo was created to "strengthen Petrosino's identity as a wine hub in Western Sicily." The event is organized by the Municipality of Petrosino with the Pro Loco, the patronage of the Free Municipal Consortium of the Province of Trapani, and the collaboration of AIS Trapani.

Petrosino and the Sicily of wine

Petrosino, in the province of Trapani, lies in the heart of one of Sicily's most important wine-growing areas, the land of Marsala and great white wines. Visiting Vino Vivo means discovering a territory that makes wine an element of identity, amidst vineyards, salt pans, and the sea. The festival confirms itself as one of the best opportunities to get to know the producers of the west coast and their wines up close.

Vino Vivo — edition 2026

The third edition of Vino Vivo in Petrosino has already been announced for 2026 by the organizers, who confirmed their intention to continue the event with new initiatives, in-depth sessions, and moments of conviviality dedicated to the wine of the west coast. The exact dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published: they will be announced by the Municipality of Petrosino closer to the event.

Following the success of the first two editions, the organizers of Vino Vivo have announced a third edition in 2026, with the goal of expanding collaborations with local restaurateurs, artists, and producers. At the moment, the dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released; the event remains a key appointment dedicated to the white wines of Western Sicily, the Grillo grape variety, and the rural identity of the Petrosino territory. Updated information will be published on the official channels of the Municipality of Petrosino.
