Radici di Pietra e Sale: the summer theatre of Misiliscemi

Radici di Pietra e Sale is the theatre festival that brings life to the summer in the young Municipality of Misiliscemi, in the Free Municipal Consortium of Trapani, Sicily. Established in 2021 after separating from the territory of Trapani, Misiliscemi is a dispersed municipality made up of numerous districts and villages, where the countryside, salt pans, and the sea shape a landscape literally made of stone and salt. The festival was created to bring live performance to these places, transforming squares, open spaces, and corners of the hamlets into small, scattered stages.

Part of the Sere d'Estate programme

Radici di Pietra e Sale is part of Sere d'Estate, the summer programme promoted by the municipal administration that, from June to September, accompanies residents and visitors with music, theatre, sports, food and wine, and cultural moments distributed across the various districts. Within this calendar, the festival represents the section dedicated to theatre and storytelling: performances, readings, and entertainment moments designed to engage audiences of all ages under the Sicilian summer sky.

Across the local districts

The strongest feature of the event is its itinerant and widespread nature: the appointments take place in villages such as Salinagrande, Pietretagliate, Marausa, Rilievo, and other districts that make up the Municipality of Misiliscemi. This choice enhances the identity of each village and strengthens the sense of community, giving each location the opportunity to host an event and welcome spectators from all over the territory.
