The food and wine festival in the village of Custonaci, featuring Trapani cuisine, music, and traditions
I Sapori del Borgo Festival is the food and wine event that brings the village of Custonaci to life every September. This small hillside town in the province of Trapani, Sicily, overlooks the gulf and sits at the foot of Mount Cofano. For three days, the historic center and Piazza dell'Autonomia turn into a large open-air kitchen where the region's gastronomic excellence takes center stage.
The heart of the festival lies in the tasting stalls, where visitors can sample the iconic dishes of the Trapani and Custonaci traditions. Specialties returning every year include:
Alongside the stalls, you will find zero-kilometer products and local excellence, from extra virgin olive oil—Custonaci proudly holds the title of "City of Oil"—to ancient Sicilian grains.
I Sapori del Borgo is not just about food: every edition offers a rich calendar of evening entertainment, with live bands, dance and 90s music DJ sets, cabaret shows, and moments of folklore. There are also talk shows and meetings dedicated to food culture, featuring producers, nutritionists, and local experts who discuss the connection between agriculture, identity, and tourism development.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Custonaci with the support of the Municipality and the Regional Department of Tourism, the event was established in 2023 and has grown year after year, becoming a key date in the late summer calendar for western Sicily. The festival's goal is to preserve the identity of local products, stimulate food tourism, and enhance the deep bond between food and the Trapani territory.
For 2026, I Sapori del Borgo Festival is expected to return to enliven the village of Custonaci during the usual period in September, in Piazza dell'Autonomia. As in previous editions, the festival will combine food stalls dedicated to Trapani specialties—couscous, busiate, cassatelle in brodo, spincie, and zero-kilometer products—with a calendar of concerts, cabaret shows, and talk shows on food culture.
At the moment, the official program for the 2026 edition has not yet been released: final dates, musical line-up, and event details will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
