Street food, craft beers, and culture on the Bari seafront for the Feast of Saint Nicholas
Every spring, coinciding with the Feast of Saint Nicholas, Largo Giannella—the iconic roundabout on the Bari seafront in the capital of Puglia—is transformed into the Villaggio del Gusto, a hub for street food, craft beer, and entertainment. Promoted by the De Gustibus Vitae association in collaboration with the CNA Metropolitan Area of Bari-BAT, the event has become a signature fixture of the city, complementing Bari's major celebrations.
The heart of the festival lies in its food stalls dedicated to traditional regional street food: not just from Puglia, but also from Basilicata, Campania, Abruzzo, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, and Calabria. Farm-to-table products are carefully selected with the Slow Food Bari chapter and the Mordi la Puglia network, with options available for those with specific dietary needs (gluten-free, lactose-free). Alongside the food, a showcase of over 50 craft beer labels from the region is curated by MondoBirra.info and the Apulian craft beer network.
Every evening, the Village offers a packed program of concerts, DJ sets, karaoke, and live entertainment, featuring tributes to Italian singer-songwriters, fireworks over the sea, and flash mobs. The showcooking sessions with chefs from the Italian Federation of Chefs are a highlight, focusing on the Bari Blue Taste project regarding marine sustainability. Families can enjoy a dedicated children's area with games, mascots, workshops, and educational entertainment.
The Villaggio del Gusto has earned the Eccellenza Italiana certification for traveling events and maintains a concrete commitment to reducing food waste and eliminating single-use plastics in collaboration with the Plastic Free network. The final day is dedicated to the Mother Earth Festival (the Pacha Mama event), featuring photographic and art exhibitions and the presentation of the Pino Tulipani Award, a recognition dedicated to social inclusion projects.
With its sea view and proximity to the historic center and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Villaggio del Gusto is much more than a food festival: it is an opportunity to experience Bari during its most festive days, blending taste, music, and popular culture. Admission is free and open to everyone.
The 2026 edition of the Villaggio del Gusto – CAB Edition, the twelfth, enlivened Largo Giannella in Bari from May 7th to 10th, earning the Eccellenza Italiana certification for traveling events. The protagonists were the 26 food stalls featuring street food from Puglia, Basilicata, Campania, Abruzzo, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria, and Calabria, selected with Slow Food Bari and the Mordi la Puglia network, alongside a showcase of over 50 craft beers curated by MondoBirra.info. A new addition this year was the crafts area managed by SDM Eventi. Every evening featured concerts, DJ sets, karaoke, and entertainment; the final Sunday was dedicated to the Mother Earth Festival with the Pacha Mama event and the presentation of the 2026 Pino Tulipani Award for social inclusion.
Throughout the event: 26 street food stalls from eight regions, over 50 craft beers, Circufolle children's area (games, mascots, workshops), and a crafts area curated by SDM Eventi.
Largo Giannella, at the Bari seafront roundabout, just a short walk from the city center and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas.
By train to Bari Central Station, then a 15-20 minute walk towards the seafront. By car, take the Bari ring road exit and use the parking areas along the seafront (traffic is heavy during the Feast of Saint Nicholas). Public transport is highly recommended.
Admission to the Village area is free; you only pay for what you consume at the food stalls and craft beer taps.
