Chestnuts, new wine, and live music in the heart of Binetto
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every autumn, Binetto, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Bari nestled in the Apulian hinterland, dedicates an evening to the Chestnut Festival. The event takes place in Piazza Umberto I, the heart of the town, turning the center into a large popular gathering dedicated to seasonal flavors. It is one of those local festivals that reveal the authentic soul of inland Puglia, far from the main tourist circuits, where the community gathers around food, wine, and music.
The undisputed stars are the roasted chestnuts, prepared on the spot and served hot to visitors. They are accompanied by the classic autumn pairing of new wine, young and fragrant, a symbol of the recently concluded grape harvest. The gastronomic selection also includes the zampina sandwich, the typical rolled grilled sausage from the Bari tradition, one of the most beloved street foods in Puglia. A simple and genuine menu that combines the flavors of the forest with those of the countryside.
The festival is not just about food: the evening continues with live music and entertainment in the square, with bands performing the greatest hits of all time, getting the audience singing and dancing until late. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is typical of community celebrations, perfect for families, groups of friends, and visitors from neighboring towns.
The organization is managed by the Beer&Fun association, a local group active in Binetto in promoting food, wine, and musical events (including the highly popular Beer Festival). The Chestnut Festival represents the autumn appointment on their calendar, a way to showcase local products and enliven the town's social life during the colder season.
Located just a few kilometers from Bari, in the province of Bari, Binetto is an agricultural village in Puglia where farming traditions remain alive. Attending the Chestnut Festival means discovering a piece of authentic inland Puglia, amidst genuine hospitality and seasonal flavors.
The dates for the 2026 edition of the Chestnut Festival in Binetto have not yet been announced. Based on previous editions, the event typically takes place on an evening in November in Piazza Umberto I, with roasted chestnuts, new wine, zampina sandwiches, and live music in the square. The full program will be published by the Beer&Fun association closer to the event.
