Four evenings of food and wine in the heart of Roero, featuring Piedmontese meat, live music, and local traditions.
In the heart of the Roero region, nestled among the hills rising from Cuneo toward the Langhe, the town of Priocca (Cuneo province, Piedmont) celebrates one of its most cherished annual events: the San Rocco Patronal Feast. The absolute star of the show is the Veal Rib Steak Festival, a food and wine event that has drawn food lovers and curious visitors to this small village for over twenty years during the Ferragosto holiday.
The heart of the festival is the Pro Loco di Priocca kitchen, which transforms Via and Piazza Roma into a massive open-air dining room for four nights. The undisputed queen is the veal rib steak, served in portions of over half a kilo and grilled to perfection, but the menu is a true journey through Piedmont's carnivorous heritage:
No reservations are required: simply find a seat under the tents and order à la carte, from appetizers to dessert.
The Veal Rib Steak Festival is about more than just food. Every evening, starting in the late afternoon, the musical aperitif kicks off the festivities, followed by dinner at the stalls. The night continues with a mix of live concerts, musical performances, comedy shows, dancing, and entertainment, creating a vibrant atmosphere that brings together the entire village and the surrounding Roero towns.
Part of the summer festival circuit in the Cuneo area, the event is organized by the Pro Loco di Priocca and offers a chance to discover an authentic corner of Piedmontese gastronomy, just a few kilometers from Alba and the UNESCO World Heritage hills of Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato. With free admission, a convivial atmosphere, and some of the best local cuisine, this festival is a must-visit mid-August destination.
From August 14 to 17, 2026, Priocca, in the Roero area (Cuneo province), returns to celebrate San Rocco with the 21st edition of the Veal Rib Steak Festival. For four evenings, Via and Piazza Roma will host the Pro Loco food stalls, featuring the famous 500g+ veal rib steak and all the specialties of the Piedmontese meat tradition.
Each evening features a musical aperitif in the late afternoon, followed by à la carte dinner from 7:00 PM, with live concerts, dance nights, and shows. Free admission, no reservation required.
The complete musical lineup (orchestras, bands, and evening shows) will be announced by the Pro Loco di Priocca in the weeks preceding the event on their official Facebook and Instagram channels.
The detailed musical program for the 21st edition (orchestras, concerts, and evening shows) will be published by the Pro Loco di Priocca in the weeks leading up to the event. The usual evening schedule is as follows:
Kitchen specialties include: 500g+ veal rib steak, Scottona beef tartare, tongue in sauce, friciule with lardo, mixed skewers, sausages, chicken legs, roast suckling pig, agnolotti, cheese and cured meat boards, and desserts, accompanied by Roero wines, beer, and cocktails.
The food stalls and performances take place on Via and Piazza Roma, in the center of Priocca (12040), in the province of Cuneo.
By car: Priocca is easily reached via the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway (Alba exit) or the Roero state road; it is about a 20-minute drive from Alba. The most convenient train station is in Alba, which has connections to Turin.
The event opens in the late afternoon with a musical aperitif (from around 6:00 PM), and dinner service begins at 7:00 PM. Admission is free; you pay à la carte for what you consume. No reservations are necessary.
