About DegustArt

DegustArt is an exhibition series that blends contemporary art with wine culture in Agliano Terme, the heart of the Barbera d'Asti region. From April to December, the Spazio BAart in Piazza San Giacomo hosts rotating exhibitions by local and international artists, with visitors treated to a complimentary glass of Barbera d'Asti every Sunday. This journey through painting, sculpture, and tasting is promoted by the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato in collaboration with the Fondazione Asti Musei, set within the rolling hills of the Monferrato Astigiano in Piedmont.

DegustArt: where art meets wine in Agliano Terme

DegustArt is a cultural series that brings the Spazio BAart in Agliano Terme to life from April to December. Located in a small town in the Province of Asti, nestled among the Barbera hills of Piedmont, the initiative was born from a simple yet brilliant idea: to create a dialogue between contemporary art and the region's rich winemaking tradition. It offers visitors not only high-quality exhibitions but also the unique experience of enjoying a glass of Barbera d'Asti amidst the displayed works.

Spazio BAart, the heart of the exhibition

The exhibitions are housed in Spazio BAart, located in the former confraternity of San Michele at Piazza San Giacomo 2. As part of the Fondazione Asti Musei network, the venue has quickly established itself as one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the Monferrato Astigiano. Its rooms host rotating solo exhibitions spanning various artistic languages, from painting and engraving to sculpture.

The 2026 program: two major exhibitions

The 2026 edition, the second in the series, opens on April 4th with "Cavalieri" (Knights), a solo show by Asti-based artist Stefano Pedro Porro. The exhibition uses acrylic paintings, engravings, and sculptures to explore the knight and the horse as metaphors for human duality, remaining on display until May 24th. From June 7th to July 26th, the spotlight shifts to "Geografia interna" (Internal Geography) by Italian-Brazilian artist Beatriz Basso, featuring around thirty works on acrylic and silk that connect Brazil, Italy, and India through both real and imagined landscapes. The series continues with further events through December.

Barbera d'Asti takes center stage

The gastronomic highlight of DegustArt is the complimentary tasting offered every Sunday. All exhibition visitors are invited to enjoy a glass of Barbera d'Asti, with a selection that showcases producers from Agliano Terme, one of the denomination's flagship towns. The program is further enriched by masterclasses and guided tastings organized in collaboration with the AIS (Italian Sommelier Association), ONAF, and the local hospitality school, creating an experience that bridges wine knowledge with local products.

A local project

DegustArt is promoted by the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato in partnership with Spazio BAart and the Fondazione Asti Musei. The series represents a model of integrated cultural promotion, where art serves as a gateway to tell the story of the land, its UNESCO-recognized vine-covered hills, and the excellence of its wines. Visiting DegustArt in Agliano Terme means discovering the Monferrato Astigiano from a fresh perspective, surrounded by fine art and glasses of Barbera.

DegustArt โ€” edition 2026
