The historic festival of Iesa in the heart of the Val di Farma, featuring wild boar tagliatelle, nature, and culture.
The Valzer delle Tagliatelle al Cinghiale is one of the most beloved festivals in the Sienese territory. It takes place in Iesa, a small and charming hamlet in the municipality of Monticiano, in the province of Siena. Nestled in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of Tuscany, it is just a few kilometers from the Val di Farma nature reserve and the ancient thermal baths of Petriolo. Reaching its 46th edition in 2026, the event is organized with passion by the Associazione La Pigna APS, which transforms the village every year into a meeting point for foodies, nature enthusiasts, and lovers of folk traditions.
The signature dish of the festival, from which it takes its name, is the famous tagliatelle al cinghiale (wild boar pasta), prepared according to traditional Maremma and Sienese recipes with a rich wild boar ragรน, an animal typical of these woods. At the food stalls set up by the association's volunteers, you can also taste other Tuscan specialties in a genuine and convivial atmosphere that is one of Iesa's hallmarks.
The Valzer delle Tagliatelle is more than just a food festival: throughout the weekend, the program is enriched with numerous cultural and recreational initiatives. Among the most anticipated events are free guided tours of the K.L. Metzler Sculpture Park, the painting competition curated by artist Renzo Regoli, trekking in the Farma Valley, and evenings of live music and dancing. There is also a local craft market and exhibitions set up in the village's historic center.
One of the unique features of this event is the "Raccontaci Iesa" (Tell Us About Iesa) literary contest, which includes an awards ceremony for the winners and the presentation of a volume collecting the participating entries. This initiative highlights the community's strong bond with its territory and local memory, adding significant value beyond a simple village fair.
Thanks to the quality of local specialties, the authentic atmosphere, and the natural backdrop of southern Tuscany, the Valzer delle Tagliatelle al Cinghiale has become a staple of the Sienese festival calendar over the years. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a hidden gem like Iesa, savor the flavors of wild boar, and enjoy a weekend dedicated to good food, nature, and culture.
