The king of the forest takes center stage in the village of Casale di Pari, in the heart of Maremma
In the heart of the rolling Maremma hills, where chestnut and oak woods descend toward the Ombrone and Farma valleys, the village of Casale di Pari has been guarding a delicious and identity-defining tradition for nearly fifty years: the Porcini Mushroom Festival. Organized since 1975 by the Pro Loco Casale Casenovole, the festival is dedicated to the undisputed king of the autumn undergrowth, the porcini mushroom, which grows wild in the woods adjacent to this small village in the municipality of Civitella Paganico, in the province of Grosseto.
The beating heart of the event is the food stand, where Pro Loco volunteers prepare dishes that showcase the precious mushroom in every possible way. The menu features porcini mushroom pasta, grilled meats, and the unmissable signature dish of the festival: fried mushrooms, described by the organizers as a true local gastronomic experience. The meals are accompanied by wines and typical products of the Maremma region.
Alongside the culinary offerings, the festival evenings come alive with a rich program of side events: live music every night, entertainment for children, cultural events, shows, and concerts that turn the streets and squares of Casale di Pari into a meeting point for residents and visitors alike.
Nestled on the slopes of the Pari hill, just a few kilometers from Civitella Marittima and immersed in the hilly landscape of southern Tuscany, Casale di Pari also offers festival-goers the chance to discover an authentic rural village, far from the major tourist flows. The event, which attracts food lovers from all over the region, is the perfect opportunity to experience Maremma hospitality and the genuine flavors of a territory still on a human scale.
From October 2 to 4, 2026, Casale di Pari hosts the new edition of the Porcini Mushroom Festival, organized by the Pro Loco Casale Casenovole. As per tradition, the food stand will offer the festival's signature dishes — porcini mushroom pasta, grilled meats, and the famous fried mushrooms — accompanied by local wines, with dinner service every evening and lunch service on the weekend. The evenings will be enlivened by music, entertainment for children, and festive moments in the Maremma village.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including musical and side events for each evening, will be announced by the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the event.
Casale di Pari can be reached by car from the SS223 Siena-Grosseto road: take the exit towards Pari/Civitella Marittima and follow the signs for the village. It is about 41 km from Grosseto and thirty from Siena. The nearest train station is in Grosseto, from where you can continue by car.
Free admission. The food stand is open every evening for dinner, with lunch service also available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Given the high turnout on weekends, it is advisable to arrive a little early to avoid waiting at the stand. A light jacket is useful for autumn evenings in the hills.
