The Carnival feast in the heart of the village, featuring pasta with meat sauce and alpine cheer
Every year during the Carnival season, the small village of Nomi in Vallagarina (Trento province, Trentino-Alto Adige) transforms into a large open-air dining hall. The Nomi Maccheronata is one of the most anticipated local events: a simple, genuine celebration where the star dish is pasta with meat sauce, served to everyone and accompanied by arrosticini, traditional "stromboi" (classic Carnival fritters), a bar service, and plenty of entertainment for children.
The Nomi Maccheronata is part of the Vallagarina Carnival, a true "constellation" of events spread across the valley's villages between late January and spring. Rather than a single centralized event, it is a widespread festival where each village offers its own version of the celebration: pasta feasts, float parades, costumed groups, raffles, and family entertainment. The celebrations revolve around traditional dishes—pasta with meat sauce, bigoli, polenta, and sauerkraut—which become an opportunity for collective socializing. The circuit involves numerous locations such as Rovereto, Ala, Avio, Volano, Brentonico, and, naturally, Nomi.
The event in Nomi is passionately managed by the ANA Group (National Alpine Association) and the local Pro Loco, who set up the organizational machinery every year to welcome residents and visitors. It is the expression of a Trentino tradition built on volunteering, good food, and community spirit, where all proceeds and efforts remain at the service of village life.
The Nomi Maccheronata is the ideal opportunity to discover a genuine corner of the Municipality of Nomi and the Vallagarina, letting yourself be swept up in the joy of a Carnival that still feels like tradition and sharing.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 11:30 AM, Nomi hosted its traditional Carnival Maccheronata. The menu featured pasta with meat sauce, arrosticini, and the typical "stromboi", accompanied by a bar service and entertainment for children. The event was included in the official calendar of the Vallagarina Carnival 2026, the widespread festival that animated dozens of villages in the valley between January 31 and April 12 with pasta feasts and parades. The organization was handled, as every year, by the ANA Group and the Nomi Pro Loco.
