Concert and tastings to celebrate the anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Vineyard Landscapes
The UNESCO Happy Birthday event is the annual June appointment where Grinzane Cavour Castle celebrates the anniversary of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato Vineyard Landscapes being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2014. The evening takes place in the setting of the manor that overlooks the hills of the Langa, in the municipality of Grinzane Cavour, in the province of Cuneo, and represents one of the symbolic moments of the local cultural season.
The heart of the evening is a concert hosted within the castle grounds, featuring prominent performers from the Italian and international music scene each year. The artistic program ranges from singer-songwriters to classical music, always with the aim of showcasing a venue that is both a historical monument and the productive heart of one of Italy's most famous wine territories.
Surrounding the concert is the food and wine dimension of the festival: tasting stalls from local producers allow visitors to sample the great wines of the Langhe and products from the Short Supply Chain at the UNESCO Castle project, supported by the Piedmont Region and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The pairings of wine glasses and local specialties tell the story of a land where the landscape is the result of centuries of work by winemakers.
Grinzane Cavour Castle, built around the mid-11th century, now houses the Piedmontese Regional Enoteca Cavour and the Langhe Museum. Linked to the figure of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, who served as its mayor, it is one of the symbols of the UNESCO recognition and one of the most visited destinations in the Cuneo hills.
Participation in the evening is free upon registration, using the form available on the official castle website. The initiative is promoted by the Piedmontese Regional Enoteca Cavour together with the Piedmont Region, the Association for the Heritage of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato Vineyard Landscapes, and the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Board. It is an opportunity to discover the oenological side of Piedmont in a refined setting with strong identity value.
