The 43 km ultramarathon along the Dora Baltea river in Tavagnasco
UltraDora is the flagship event of a weekend entirely dedicated to running in Tavagnasco, a town in the upper Canavese area of the Province of Turin, in northern Piedmont, just a stone's throw from the Aosta Valley border. It is a 43-kilometer road ultramarathon, a unique distance achieved by running a 4.3 km city circuit ten times, winding along the banks of the Dora Baltea, the river that gives the event its name.
The route, completely closed to traffic, follows a flat loop along the banks of the Dora Baltea without any sharp turns. The race starts at 9:00 AM from the Tavagnasco train station, which is easily accessible via the Turin–Aosta railway line. The lap-based format allows spectators to follow the runners closely and ensures frequent support and refreshment stations, making the race suitable for both experienced ultramarathoners and those tackling a distance beyond a standard marathon for the first time.
UltraDora is not a standalone event: the Sunday race is the highlight of a weekend that features the 8 Ore del Canavese on Saturday, an endurance event held at the same venue. Between the two competitions, the Club Super Marathon Italia hosts a grand celebration with an aperitif, dinner, live music, a Brazilian-themed show, and fireworks—a convivial occasion that blends sport and entertainment, making Tavagnasco a highly anticipated date on the Piedmontese ultrarunning calendar.
The event is managed by the ASD Club Super Marathon Italia, an association specializing in long-distance races. Now in its early editions, UltraDora has already carved out a place in the Piedmontese ultramarathon calendar, offering participants a stunning natural setting at the foot of the Canavese mountains and the warm, familiar atmosphere typical of local village races.
The fourth edition of UltraDora returns to Tavagnasco on Sunday, September 13, 2026, confirming the proven 43 km ultramarathon format along the banks of the Dora Baltea. The race is part of a running weekend that features the 8 Ore del Canavese on Saturday, September 12, along with the grand evening party organized by the Club Super Marathon Italia between the two events.
Full details on times, refreshment stations, and awards will be published on the official website clubsupermarathon.it in the weeks leading up to the event.
