The cultural wool season at the Lanificio Botto in Miagliano
In the small town of Miagliano, in the Province of Biella at the foot of the Cervo Valley, Wool Experience comes to life every summer: a widespread cultural festival that transforms the former Lanificio Botto into an open-air stage. Now in its thirteenth edition in 2026, the event is conceived and organized by the Amici della Lana APS association, founded in 2015 to restore life and memory to one of the symbolic sites of Biella's industrial archaeology.
This is not just a single event, but a full-fledged season that unfolds throughout the summer with over fifty appointments. The common thread is always wool and the history of the factory, but the programme ranges freely across different disciplines:
The Lanificio Botto, located along the provincial road that crosses Miagliano, is one of the many mills that made the Biella area the Italian capital of wool. Thanks to the Amici della Lana, it is now a vibrant space hosting artistic residencies, educational activities for schools, and projects for regional development. The event is supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Biella and the CulturHub grant, in collaboration with the Municipality of Miagliano.
Wool Experience speaks to a curious and diverse audience: families, music and theatre enthusiasts, hikers, craft lovers, and tourists looking to discover an authentic Piedmont off the beaten track. It is an opportunity to experience the Cervo Valley through its textile history and contemporary creativity.
The thirteenth edition of Wool Experience restarts after a spring that involved fifteen primary schools in the Biella area. The 2026 summer programme confirms the widespread festival format: over fifty appointments distributed across the spaces of the Lanificio Botto and the P408 Amphitheatre in Miagliano. The events blend live music, theatre, nature excursions, and craft workshops, all intertwined with the history of wool and the factory.
Further dates for August and September will be announced throughout the season on the official website and the association's channels.
