About Ultner Bergbrunch

The Ultner Bergbrunch is one of the most beloved culinary events in the Ultental Valley, in the province of Bolzano. Every summer, at the Erlebnisteich pond on the Schwemmalm at an altitude of 2,162 meters, a rich mountain brunch is served featuring local products: alpine butter, organic Ultental bread, jams, and herbal teas from local farmers. A relaxed experience for families and friends, set amidst the peaks of the Ortler-Cevedale group and the crisp mountain air.

A brunch among the peaks of the Ultental Valley

The Ultner Bergbrunch is a culinary event that brings locals and tourists to high altitudes every summer, specifically to the Schwemmalm, the hiking and skiing area of the Ultental Valley (Val d'Ultimo), in the municipality of Ultimo (Ulten), in the province of Bolzano, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The event takes place at the Erlebnisteich, an educational pond nestled in the alpine landscape at approximately 2,162 meters above sea level, accessible via the cable car that departs from Kuppelwies (1,150 m).

What is the Bergbrunch?

The Bergbrunch is a cross between a hearty breakfast and a light lunch, served in an informal and convivial atmosphere in the heart of the mountains. No reservations are required: you pay directly on-site and settle in to enjoy the genuine flavors of the valley.

  • Alpine butter and fresh cheese
  • Organic Ultental bread, prepared according to local tradition
  • Jams and preserves from Ultental farmers
  • Herbal mountain teas, coffee, and cappuccino
  • Fresh eggs, white sausages (würstel) with mustard, and rye bread

The event is accompanied by musical entertainment, which helps create the festive atmosphere typical of South Tyrolean alpine huts.

An experience for the whole family

The Bergbrunch is considered one of the most appreciated food and wine events in the Ultental Valley. The setting of the Erlebnisteich pond, with its attractions for children and the panoramic view of the Ortler-Cevedale peaks, makes the day perfect for families, hikers, and friends looking for a tasty break at high altitude. Those who prefer not to walk can comfortably take the cable car, while trekking enthusiasts can reach the Schwemmalm via the numerous trails in the area.

The Ultental Valley

The Ultental Valley is one of the most authentic valleys in South Tyrol (Alto Adige), known for its centuries-old farmsteads, the thousand-year-old larches of Santa Gertrude, and a still-vibrant farming tradition. The Ultner Bergbrunch perfectly reflects this identity: zero-mile products, mountain hospitality, and a deep connection to the territory of the province of Bolzano.

Ultner Bergbrunch — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Ultner Bergbrunch is scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, at the Erlebnisteich pond on the Schwemmalm, in the Ultental Valley. Once again this year, the mountain brunch will offer typical products of the valley—alpine butter, organic Ultental bread, jams, and local herbal teas—accompanied by musical entertainment in a convivial atmosphere at an altitude of 2,162 meters.

The 2026 Ultner Bergbrunch will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, on the Schwemmalm at the Erlebnisteich pond.
