About Truffle Fettuccine Festival

Every summer, the Truffle Fettuccine Festival brings the medieval village of Civitella Cesi, a hamlet of Blera in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia, to life. For four evenings around Ferragosto, the village streets transform into one long, continuous dining table stretching from Piazza della Vittoria to the foot of Castello Torlonia, where the star of the show is local truffle served in famous homemade fettuccine. Live music, dancing, and ballroom sessions in Piazza Castello round out an authentic, free-entry popular festival, which reached its 28th edition in 2025.

A festival in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia

The Truffle Fettuccine Festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the summer in Civitella Cesi, a small hamlet in the municipality of Blera, in the Province of Viterbo, northern Lazio. For four consecutive evenings, usually around the Ferragosto holiday, the ancient medieval village lights up with scents, music, and atmosphere to celebrate its most precious product: the Tuscia truffle.

A single long table beneath Castello Torlonia

The heart of the event is the large open-air dining area that runs through the village: tables are lined up along the streets, climbing from Piazza della Vittoria to the foot of the imposing Castello Torlonia. Here, visitors can enjoy the famous truffle fettuccine, the festival's signature dish, along with numerous other local specialties. The setting, amidst stone alleys and medieval vistas, makes dinner an experience as gastronomic as it is evocative.

Traditional flavors

The festival kitchen highlights local raw materials, with ingredients arriving directly from area producers. The event's historical menu includes:

  • Homemade truffle fettuccine and ragรน fettuccine;
  • Truffle-infused meat bites and rolls;
  • Grilled beef steak and sausage;
  • Beans with pork rinds, truffle potatoes, bacon, and bruschetta;
  • Local wines such as Merlot and Tilium Bianco;
  • Traditional wine-infused biscuits (ciambelline al vino) to finish the meal.

The meat comes from the local breeders' cooperative, and the extra virgin olive oil is provided by the "Colli Etruschi" cooperative, reflecting a short supply chain deeply rooted in the territory.

Music, dancing, and village atmosphere

Each evening is accompanied by live musical performances: orchestras, bands, and ballroom dancing nights alternate in Piazza Castello and Piazza della Vittoria, creating a festive atmosphere that engages both young and old. The festival thus preserves the authentic character of village feasts, where gastronomy intertwines with social life and the community's folk traditions.

A festival organized by the community

The event is promoted by the Polisportiva Civitella Cesi with the support of the Municipality of Blera and is the result of the work of local volunteers. In 2025, the festival reached its 28th edition, confirming itself as one of the best opportunities to discover Civitella Cesi and the Viterbo Tuscia during the summer. Admission is always free.
