Trippa in Festa, a celebration of taste in Specchia Gallone

Trippa in Festa is the food and wine festival that brings Specchia Gallone to life, a small village in the municipality of Minervino di Lecce, in the heart of Salento and just a few kilometers from Otranto. Part of the Minervino Summer program promoted by the local administration, the event is dedicated to a signature dish of Puglian peasant cuisine: tripe, the star of an evening filled with flavor, heritage, and music.

A tribute to Salento's peasant cuisine

The festival was born as a true return to one's roots. Tripe, a humble ingredient from the farming traditions of Southern Italy, is served in various traditional recipes at the food stalls set up in Largo Sant'Anna, along the provincial road 56. Alongside the tripe, visitors can sample porchetta and other traditional Salento dishes, all accompanied by Terrona craft beer, produced locally.

Live music and a festive atmosphere

The evening is not just about food, but also entertainment. The highlight is the live music: in the first edition, the stage hosted the band Popolo Nomade, who performed a repertoire blending historical tracks with new sounds, keeping the audience entertained until late at night. The atmosphere is that of a typical Salento village festival, defined by conviviality, social connection, and joy under the August stars.

A tradition reborn

Organized by the Specchia Gallone Festival Committee, Trippa in Festa aims to promote the intangible heritage of Salento through culinary memory and community life. It is an opportunity to rediscover the authentic flavors of the Lecce province and experience the hospitality of a village that, for one night, becomes a gathering point for residents and tourists vacationing in Puglia.

The location of Specchia Gallone, nestled in the Salento hinterland but a short distance from the Adriatic coast and Otranto, makes the festival an ideal stop for those spending their summer in Salento who wish to combine the sea, charming villages, and traditional gastronomy. It is a free-entry event, open to all, designed to rediscover the genuine taste of Puglia.

2026 Edition

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers. The event traditionally takes place in August: for the updated program, it is recommended to follow the official channels of the Municipality of Minervino di Lecce and the Specchia Gallone Festival Committee.
