Music, tradition, and flavors in the Griko historic center of Soleto

Le Mura in Festa is one of the most anticipated events on the winter calendar of Soleto, a town in the Grecìa Salentina region of the Province of Lecce, in the heart of the Salento peninsula. Originally conceived as a widespread celebration tied to the end-of-year festivities, the event brings the historic center to life, turning squares, alleys, and ancient courtyards into a continuous journey of music, art, and gastronomy.
The festival follows a 'widespread' format: the town's three main squares serve as stages for live concerts, DJ sets, and bands, while food stalls managed by Soleto's historic local businesses line the streets of the center. The music ranges from traditional Salento folk rhythms to pop and rock, creating an atmosphere that engages both residents and visitors late into the evening.
Soleto is one of the municipalities of the Grecìa Salentina, an area of Salento where the ancient Griko language has been preserved. The village is famous for the Guglia di Raimondello (or Spire of Soleto), a slender Gothic bell tower that serves as the town's symbol, and for the Church of Santo Stefano with its Byzantine frescoes. Celebrating within these walls means experiencing the historic center in its most authentic form, with dramatic lighting that highlights its unique vistas and architecture.
Organized by local associations in collaboration with the Municipality of Soleto and the local Pro Loco, Le Mura in Festa is designed as a free-entry gathering that showcases the village's cultural and gastronomic heritage, keeping Salento vibrant even during the winter season, far from the summer crowds.
The 2026 edition of Le Mura in Festa in Soleto is expected during the winter period, continuing the tradition of previous years in the historic center of the Griko village, in the Province of Lecce. At the moment, the Municipality of Soleto and the organizing associations have not yet announced official dates, artists, or the program. This page will be updated as soon as information becomes available.
