To The Tower: where basketball meets the castle

Few places can transform a basketball game into an unforgettable experience quite like Castel Beseno, the imposing fortified complex that dominates the plains of Besenello, in the province of Trento. This is the stage for To The Tower, the summer event created by Aquila Basket, which brings the spectacle of 3x3 basketball within the walls of one of the largest castles in the Alps, offering sweeping views of the Vallagarina and Adige valleys.

A day of sport, history, and local culture

To The Tower is more than just a tournament: it is a festival that blends sport, culture, and tradition from morning until night. The courts are set up among the castle's courtyards and walkways, offering athletes and spectators a backdrop unique in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Surrounding the basketball action is a rich program designed for all ages, weaving together competition, entertainment, and local food and wine.

3x3 basketball tournaments

The sporting heart of the event is the 3x3 basketball tournament, a fast-paced and spectacular discipline that is now an Olympic sport. The competitions are divided into several categories:

• Elite tournament, for teams aiming for the next level;
• Under 16 and Under 18 youth categories, reserved for local talent;
• Pro tournament, featuring high-level players who light up the afternoon.

In the late afternoon, the spotlight shifts to the Dunk Contest, a display of acrobatics and adrenaline before the day transitions into music.

Re-enactments, guided tours, and kids' area

Alongside the courts, To The Tower celebrates the medieval soul of Castel Beseno. Throughout the day, costumed performers offer historical re-enactments and weapon demonstrations, with the chance to try on period helmets and armor. Guided tours of the castle depart at regular intervals, allowing visitors to discover the history of the fortress managed by the Castello del Buonconsiglio. For families, there are play areas and entertainment activities dedicated to children.

Sunset music and Trentino flavors

As the sun goes down, the castle transforms: the Music Sunset & Chill program accompanies the evening with DJ sets and live music until late. To complete the experience, food stands curated in partnership with Confcommercio Trentino offer the best of local culinary excellence, from street food to traditional Trentino products.

A free event in the heart of Trentino

Organized by Aquila Basket with the support of the local community, To The Tower is free to attend upon registration. It is a fantastic opportunity to experience the town of Besenello and the Trentino-Alto Adige region, combining a passion for basketball with the discovery of the historical and scenic heritage of the Vallagarina.
