About Ganzega d'Autunno

Ganzega d'Autunno is an annual October event that transforms the historic center of Mori, in the Vallagarina valley, into a living fresco of Trentino life between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Courtyards and wine cellars host vintage-style taverns and kitchens serving local specialties, while costumed performers, traditional artisans, parades, music, and shows bring the streets and squares to life. This popular community event is organized by the Pro Loco Mori Val di Gresta with the support of dozens of associations and hundreds of volunteers.

Ganzega d'Autunno: The ancient heart of Mori

Ganzega d'Autunno is one of the most beloved historical re-enactments in the Vallagarina valley and the entire Trentino region. Every autumn, the historic center of the Municipality of Mori, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), turns into a vast open-air theater, taking visitors back in time to the late 1800s and early 1900s. The local dialect term ganzega refers to the traditional feast that marked the end of major agricultural work and the harvest: this inspired the event, which celebrates the farming and artisan heritage of the Mori community.

A journey through history in courtyards and cellars

The charm of the Ganzega lies in its setting: the streets, courtyards, and cellars of the village open their doors to host historic taverns and kitchens serving traditional Trentino dishes and products. Local associations set up meticulously detailed scenes, creating a true itinerant menu that winds through the alleys of the old town, with gastronomic stops in various small houses.

Performers, crafts, and shows

The traditional program includes:

  • Parades and performers in period costumes along the streets of the center, accompanied by the Social Band;
  • Re-enactments of ancient crafts using traditional tools and techniques in porches and courtyards;
  • Exhibitions, photographic displays, and themed settings;
  • Folkloric shows, live music, theater, and entertainment for families and children;
  • A characteristic currency exchange using old Italian lire to relive the atmosphere of the era;
  • Evocative evening moments such as the torchlight procession toward the Montalbano area and the grand finale with lights, music, and imagery.

A community celebration

The event is organized by the Pro Loco Mori Val di Gresta in collaboration with numerous local associations and the contribution of hundreds of volunteers, who make this impressive production possible every year. Throughout its editions, the Ganzega has explored various themes related to local history, from early 20th-century entertainment to the great agricultural and industrial transformations of the Vallagarina, and the stories of border peoples.
