"The Village of Good Breath... and...summer in Terelle" is the summer event calendar for the Municipality of Terelle, a mountain village in the province of Frosinone nestled at an altitude of approximately 900 meters on the slopes of Monte Cairo, bordering the Valle di Comino. The festival's name plays on the village's fresh, clean air and the invitation to spend the summer there: from June to September, the squares, alleys, and Borgo Castello fill with concerts, food festivals, hikes, religious feasts, and cultural evenings, in a program that weaves together rural memory, spirituality, and the joy of being together.
The 6th edition, 2026
The sixth edition, officially presented by the Municipality on June 16, 2026, opens on June 2 with celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic and accompanies the village until September 1, the feast day of the patron saint, Saint Giles the Abbot (Sant'Egidio Abate). The project has received support from the Lazio Region, which granted funding to "The Village of Good Breath" as part of regional support for local events. Among the most significant novelties is the TOPIO Summer School 2026 (July 14-16), organized with the Sapienza University of Rome, the Botanical Garden, and the European Commission: a scientific event dedicated to landscape and mountain living that confirms the bond between this small Ciociaria town and the world of research.
Sapori nel Borgo, the gastronomic heart
The most anticipated event is "Sapori nel Borgo" (Flavors in the Village), scheduled for July 25, 2026, starting at 6:00 PM in the evocative setting of Borgo Castello. Organized by the Pro Loco Terelle with the patronage of the Municipality and the Lazio Region, it offers a gastronomic journey through the ancient streets of the historic center: polenta with pork rib sauce, Terelle-style lamb, casarecce pasta with sausage, mushrooms and truffles, fried pizzas, arrosticini, local cheeses, and traditional desserts, accompanied by roving folk music, an evening concert by the Piccola Orchestra Popolare Cantodinizio, and a final DJ set under the stars.
Mountains, chestnut groves, and tradition
Terelle is a land of chestnuts: its ancient chestnut groves earn it a place among the chestnut-producing municipalities of the Lazio region. It is no coincidence that the calendar hosts the General States of Chestnut-Producing Municipalities of the Lazio Region (July 5) and the Mountain and Three Borders Festival (August 2), organized together with the municipalities of Colle San Magno and Casalattico. The Pro Loco's historical-naturalistic walks, the hike to the Napoleonic Cemetery, and days like "Meeting with Tradition" and "Terelle Yesterday and Today" tell the story of a village that has made the mountain its greatest resource.
Patronal feasts and spirituality
The month of August culminates with religious festivities dear to the community: the Feast of the Assumption (August 15), the Feast of Saint Roch (August 16), the meeting with the Madonna Bruna of Canneto di Settefrati (August 20-21), the Feast of Saint Vincent (August 31), and finally the feast of the patron saint, Saint Giles the Abbot, on September 1, which ideally closes the Terelle summer.
An all-local organizational machine
Behind the manifesto are the Municipality of Terelle, the Pro Loco, the ASD Terelle APS, the Catholic Action Youth, the Santa Maria Assunta Parish, the festival committees, and the village's commercial businesses: a network of volunteers that, as the municipal administration emphasizes, represents "the true strength of the community." For those visiting the Ciociaria region and the Valle di Comino in summer, Terelle offers an authentic opportunity to encounter the life of a small Lazio village.
The Village of Good Breath — edition 2026
The 2026 summer events manifesto, supported by the Lazio Region and offered by Roberto Matrullo of "La Mansarda di Terelle," gathers over thirty appointments between June and September. The heart of the program beats between late July and August: on July 25, Borgo Castello hosts "Sapori nel Borgo" with a gastronomic tour and live music until late at night; on August 2, the Mountain and Three Borders Festival arrives with the municipalities of Colle San Magno and Casalattico; while the feasts of the Assumption and Saint Roch follow one another around Ferragosto. A 2026 novelty is the TOPIO Summer School (July 14-16) with La Sapienza University, the Botanical Garden, and the European Commission, dedicated to landscape and mountain living. The summer closes with the Mountain and Emigrant Festival (August 23) and the festivities of Saint Vincent and Saint Giles the Abbot.

How to get there
Terelle can be reached by car from the A1 motorway (Cassino exit), continuing for about 20 km along the mountain road that climbs from Cassino or Roccasecca; the hairpin bends offer wide panoramic views over the Liri Valley. The nearest train station is Cassino, on the Rome-Naples line.
Useful tips
The village is located at an altitude of about 900 meters: even in mid-summer, the evenings are cool, so it is best to bring a light jacket. Events mostly take place outdoors between Borgo Castello, Piazza Portella, and the streets of the historic center.
