A month of lights, music, and traditions in the heart of the Comino Valley
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
"Christmas in Alvito" is the grand holiday festival that every year, from December 6th to January 6th, transforms one of the most evocative villages in the Comino Valley into an open-air nativity scene. For a whole month, the Municipality of Alvito, in the province of Frosinone, offers a rich calendar of events that weaves together history, music, art, nature, and spirituality, designed for families, children, visitors, and those who love the most genuine traditions of Ciociaria.
The festival does not have a single stage but comes to life through events spread throughout the town. The musical heart beats at the Municipal Theater, housed in the 17th-century Palazzo Ducale (the town hall), where concerts, children's shows, and events combining taste and music take place. The streets and alleys of the historic center, perched on the mountain and surrounded by ancient walls, provide a natural backdrop for markets, entertainment, and strolls among the holiday lights.
There is no shortage of social and gastronomic fun, with the famous Polenta and Bingo Night at the Belvedere dei Cappuccini, a festive moment that brings the entire community together, and tastings of local products that accompany the concerts. Burraco tournaments, workshops, and shows for children complete a program that highlights the village's vibrant community associations.
Listed among the most beautiful villages in Lazio and overlooking the Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park, Alvito preserves the Castello Cantelmo, small squares, and stepped alleys that make a visit unique. Experiencing Christmas here means immersing yourself in an intimate and authentic atmosphere, far from the major tourist crowds, where the celebration retains the flavor of traditional village life.
The 2026-2027 edition of "Christmas in Alvito" is expected during the usual period between December 6th and January 6th, but dates and the program have not yet been officially released. As per tradition, the event is expected to offer a widespread program across squares, churches, and the Municipal Theater, featuring Christmas markets, nativity scene exhibitions, concerts, the arrival of Santa Claus, and social gatherings organized by the Pro Loco. Please check the official channels of the Municipality of Alvito for updates.
Alvito is located in the province of Frosinone, in the Comino Valley. By car, it can be reached from the A1 motorway (Sora or Cassino exit) by continuing along the Val di Comino. The reference railway station is on the Roccasecca-Avezzano line.
The festival traditionally takes place from December 6th to January 6th, with events distributed throughout the weekends and major holidays.
Most of the widespread events are free to enter; some initiatives at the Municipal Theater or tastings may require a reservation or a small contribution. It is recommended to check the official calendar of the Municipality of Alvito and the Pro Loco.
