The Taste of Piana's Typical Products, with its famous Grill in the Square, is a summer food and wine event that enlivens the historic center of Piana degli Albanesi, in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, in the heart of Sicily. For one evening, the charming Piazza Vittorio Emanuele turns into a trail of authentic flavors, dedicated to tasting local specialties, meats, and their derivatives.

Flavors of tradition

Taste is the absolute star: visitors can savor artisanal cured meats, traditional cheeses, and meat dishes straight from the grill set up in the square, where sausages and local specialties are cooked using farm-to-table ingredients. Completing the experience are baked goods and traditional Arbëreshë sweets, a legacy of the Italo-Albanian community that has inhabited this village for centuries, all paired with local wines.

Arbëreshë culture and tradition

The event is not just about gastronomy: the evening is part of a day dedicated to culture, with the opportunity to visit the Musarb museum, which is dedicated to Arbëreshë culture, the town's churches, and the open-air museum in the Scheschi district. Piana degli Albanesi, founded in the 15th century by Albanian refugees, still preserves its language, Greek-Byzantine rite, and traditions that make it one of the most important Arbëreshë communities in Italy.

With free admission and designed for the whole family, "The Taste of Piana's Typical Products" is the ideal opportunity to explore the area, meet producers, and enjoy a convivial moment amidst the authentic flavors of inland Sicily. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Piana degli Albanesi and the Regional Department of Agriculture, organized by the Qvemi and Artigianando associations with the collaboration of Bashkë and the Pro Loco Piana.
