About The Pearl of Christmas

For nearly a month, from December 8th to Epiphany, the ancient village of Peschici transforms into "The Pearl of Christmas": a widespread village of lights, nativity scenes, music, and traditions overlooking the Gargano sea. The program organized by the Municipality of Peschici brings squares, churches, alleys, and the auditorium to life with over fifty events, including gospel concerts, a living nativity scene, artisan markets, tastings of local products, and the grand New Year's Eve celebration in the square. A unique way to experience the province of Foggia even in winter.

A Christmas overlooking the Gargano

The Pearl of Christmas is the rich program of holiday events organized by the Municipality of Peschici, in the heart of the Gargano promontory, in the province of Foggia (Apulia). For about a month, from December 8th until the Epiphany on January 6th, the ancient village overlooking the Adriatic lights up and transforms into a true widespread festive village, with over fifty events distributed across squares, churches, the auditorium, the historic center, and the city's iconic landmarks.

A widespread program through alleys and squares

The project was born with the aim of de-seasonalizing tourism in Peschici, a beloved summer destination, by attracting visitors during the winter months through culture, traditions, gastronomy, and the enhancement of the beautiful white historic center perched above the sea. The heart of the event is Piazza Pertini, which hosts the large tree, the lighting ceremony, and the main shows, while the Christmas Village comes to life along Corso Garibaldi with its luminous installations.

Music, nativity scenes, and folk traditions

The program weaves together religious, musical, and family-oriented events. Recurring highlights include:

  • the Santa Claus Village and spaces dedicated to children, such as the Epiphany Land on the final day;
  • the Living Nativity Scene, organized by the Ars Nova association in collaboration with local parishes;
  • sacred and gospel music concerts, the return of the zampognari (bagpipers), and performances by the town band;
  • the Artisans' Christmas and markets featuring local workshops;
  • tastings of typical Gargano products, from traditional fried sweets (the "crustole" and donuts) to holiday dishes.

New Year's Eve in the Square

The most anticipated moment is the New Year's Eve in Piazza Pertini, the outdoor year-end party with live music, entertainment, and special effects that attracts a large crowd from all over the Gargano every year. Alongside the shows, there are also social initiatives, such as a solidarity gesture aimed at the town's elderly residents.

Why visit Peschici at Christmas

Visiting Peschici during The Pearl of Christmas means discovering one of the most charming villages in Apulia in a new light: the narrow streets, the trabucchi on the coast, and the white houses provide the backdrop for an intimate and authentic atmosphere, far from the summer crowds. It is the ideal opportunity to combine a winter holiday on the Gargano with the warmth of Apulian Christmas traditions.

The Pearl of Christmas — edition 2026

The fourth edition of The Pearl of Christmas is scheduled in Peschici from December 8, 2026, to January 6, 2027, as announced by the Municipality. The full program of concerts, living nativity scene, markets, and the traditional New Year's Eve in the square will be announced in the weeks leading up to the start of the festivities.

The Municipality of Peschici has confirmed the dates for the fourth edition of The Pearl of Christmas, scheduled from December 8, 2026, to January 6, 2027. As in previous editions, the Gargano village will come alive with lights, nativity scenes, musical performances, artisan markets, and the grand New Year's Eve celebration in Piazza Pertini. The detailed program with dates and times for individual events will be published by the municipal administration in the weeks preceding the start of the holiday season.
