The Christmas festival in Peschici, the Pearl of the Gargano
The Pearl of Christmas is the rich program of holiday events organized by the Municipality of Peschici, in the heart of the Gargano promontory, in the province of Foggia (Apulia). For about a month, from December 8th until the Epiphany on January 6th, the ancient village overlooking the Adriatic lights up and transforms into a true widespread festive village, with over fifty events distributed across squares, churches, the auditorium, the historic center, and the city's iconic landmarks.
The project was born with the aim of de-seasonalizing tourism in Peschici, a beloved summer destination, by attracting visitors during the winter months through culture, traditions, gastronomy, and the enhancement of the beautiful white historic center perched above the sea. The heart of the event is Piazza Pertini, which hosts the large tree, the lighting ceremony, and the main shows, while the Christmas Village comes to life along Corso Garibaldi with its luminous installations.
The program weaves together religious, musical, and family-oriented events. Recurring highlights include:
The most anticipated moment is the New Year's Eve in Piazza Pertini, the outdoor year-end party with live music, entertainment, and special effects that attracts a large crowd from all over the Gargano every year. Alongside the shows, there are also social initiatives, such as a solidarity gesture aimed at the town's elderly residents.
Visiting Peschici during The Pearl of Christmas means discovering one of the most charming villages in Apulia in a new light: the narrow streets, the trabucchi on the coast, and the white houses provide the backdrop for an intimate and authentic atmosphere, far from the summer crowds. It is the ideal opportunity to combine a winter holiday on the Gargano with the warmth of Apulian Christmas traditions.
The Municipality of Peschici has confirmed the dates for the fourth edition of The Pearl of Christmas, scheduled from December 8, 2026, to January 6, 2027. As in previous editions, the Gargano village will come alive with lights, nativity scenes, musical performances, artisan markets, and the grand New Year's Eve celebration in Piazza Pertini. The detailed program with dates and times for individual events will be published by the municipal administration in the weeks preceding the start of the holiday season.
Peschici is located on the Gargano promontory, in the province of Foggia. By car, it can be reached via the SS89 Garganica; the reference railway stations are Foggia and San Severo, which are then connected by bus. The nearest airport is Bari-Palese.
The events take place from December 8th to January 6th, with a concentration on weekends, public holidays, and New Year's Eve.
Most of the events in the square and the historic center are free of charge.
