The festive calendar in the heart of the Capitanata capital
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every December, the historic center of Foggia, the capital of the Capitanata province and gateway to northern Puglia, lights up with the Christmas Markets and Slow Village program. It is not a single event but a comprehensive, city-wide schedule promoted by the Municipality of Foggia, the Puglia Region, and Puglia Promozione, weaving together markets, shows, concerts, and entertainment along the city's streets and squares from the Immaculate Conception through to Epiphany.
The commercial hub of the festivities is the market set up in Piazza Umberto Giordano, with its characteristic wooden huts managed by local vendors: here you can find toys, decorations, handicrafts, and typical Puglian Christmas sweets, from cartellate to pettole. The market remains open throughout the holiday period and becomes one of the favorite meeting points for locals for evening strolls under the festive lights.
Alongside the markets is the Slow Village, hosted at the Slow Park on Via Manfredi, a space inspired by the principles of circular economy and sustainability. Here, the So' Bellicos association offers days dedicated to rediscovering games of the past: a Christmas made of tradition, sociality, and child-friendly fun, far from the frenzy of shopping. The reference to the "slow" philosophy sets the tone for the entire event, which aims to help people experience the city in a relaxed and participatory way.
The program extends throughout the urban fabric. Along Corso Vittorio Emanuele and in Piazza Mercato, the city's nativity scene takes shape, while the streets of the center fill with street bands, roving light shows, and musical appointments. The village of Incoronata, a district of Foggia, also hosts a Christmas market with a nativity scene exhibition, ancient games, and workshops for children. Gospel concerts, jazz, and New Year's Eve celebrations in the square complete a calendar designed to accompany citizens and visitors throughout the holidays.
The result is a communal and free Christmas that enhances the historic center of Foggia and its province, combining the tradition of markets with the idea of a slower, more welcoming, and family-friendly city.
The official calendar for the 2026 edition of Christmas in Foggia will be published by the municipal administration in the weeks leading up to the holidays. Based on recent editions, we expect the market with wooden huts in Piazza Umberto Giordano, the Slow Village with traditional games at the Slow Park, the city nativity scene, and a rich program of free shows and concerts in the historic center. Definitive information, including dates and the program, will be released on the official channels of the Municipality of Foggia.
Events take place in the historic center of Foggia: Piazza Umberto Giordano (market), Slow Park on Via Manfredi (Slow Village), Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza Mercato (nativity scene), as well as the Incoronata district.
During the Christmas holiday period, roughly from the beginning of December until Epiphany (January 6th).
Most initiatives, markets, and performances in the square are free of charge.
Foggia is a major railway hub: the central station is a few minutes' walk from the center. By car, it can be reached via the A14 motorway (Foggia exit) and the expressway to the Gargano.
