Opening the 22nd edition with the Yellow Project Band from the Ghedini Conservatory
The small town of Rossana, in the Province of Cuneo, takes center stage for the new season of Suoni dal Monviso. On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9:00 PM, the central Piazza Gazelli will host the inaugural concert of the festival's twenty-second edition, an event that intentionally coincides with the European Music Day, which has traditionally marked the start of the festival.
The star of the evening is the Yellow Project Band, an ensemble formed at the Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo. Comprising five professional musicians—vocals, keyboards, electric guitar, bass, and drums—hailing from Piedmont and Liguria, the group offers a pop and jazz fusion repertoire that blends artistic quality, sonic exploration, and a strong contemporary vocation, with a clear tribute to the jazz fusion of Russell Ferrante and the Yellowjackets. This choice highlights the festival's commitment to showcasing young talent trained at the Cuneo music university from the very first night.
The Rossana evening is just the first step in a program that spans six months, from June to November, crossing numerous municipalities in the Cuneo valleys: from Bagnolo Piemonte to Paesana, from Sampeyre to Saluzzo, passing through Marmora, Ostana, and Busca. The festival, promoted by the I Polifonici del Marchesato Association, consistently pairs big names of the national scene—including Francesca Michielin and Arisa, expected at other stops—with local youth, choral, and emerging talents.
The common thread of the festival is the dialogue between music and nature, marked by the four elements—air, water, earth, and fire—and encapsulated in the philosophy that has driven the Polifonici del Marchesato since its founding in 2004: making music together, for everyone, in the beauty and respect of the places. The 2026 edition places particular emphasis on environmental sustainability, event accessibility, and the involvement of local communities, starting with the youngest.
